Phuket, Thailand, law enforcement authorities on Monday detained four Russian citizens suspected of carrying out crypto-ransomware attacks. They used ransomware to attack 17 Swiss companies between April 2023 and October 2024. Thai police have caught four Russian nationals linked to the 8Base group, accused of crypto ransomware attacks against European entities.
The FBI recently unsealed court documents and revealed a kidnapping case involving $15 million in cryptocurrency. The case occurred in October 2023. Six suspects were suspected of kidnapping a family of three and their nanny in Chicago and forcing the victims to transfer large amounts of cryptocurrency.
