We are proud to say that we are succeeding! However, on October 30, 2018 we faced a problem that would not be called technical in the conventional sense. This failure in the operation not only damaged the reputation of the project as a whole, but also hurt each of its participants. Unfortunately, the internet has become a place where even an experienced person is not protected from scammers and liars.
These detractors use someone else's work and earned reputation in various dirty ways for their own enrichment. And our project became a tasty morsel in the eyes of scammers. We are one of the fastest growing projects of 2018 and, as a result, many try to take advantage of our good name. This situation is a vivid example. Here is what happened: scammers created a phishing site (the attackers' site which looks identical to the original site but with modified content to mislead users), a duplicate of cryptobrowser.site.
Then, they did some preparation to get into the search results for key words "cryptobrowser" and "cryptotabbrowser", which have long been associated with our site. To maximize the effectiveness of their scheme, the scammers published the site get.crybptobrowser.site through the service https://www.phishtank.com, the verification process of which was not sufficiently thorough. This site (www.phishtank.com) accused the domain get.cryptobtowser.site of phishing and marked our site as a phishing one. Note, not the scammers' sites but ours!
Once the domain was added to the database, it was automatically blocked by the owner of the "site" domain zone without any checks. During this process, no warnings or complaints were sent to us, the hosting service or the domain registrar. This is how the site https://www.phishtank.com/, due to its connivance and lack of sufficient verification of the information posted on it, helped scammers gain access to users' computers. People were redirected to the scammers' site from various search engines while trying to find our site, through recently created phishing sites made as copies of our site get.cryptobtowser.site, and files downloaded from these sites could have hurt computer owners directly.
That day our team worked tirelessly, struggling with people's reluctance to get into the details and handle the situation, to respond to our inquiries. And now, thanks to the work of our team, the service is up and running again! Thank you to everyone for your attention and participation in the CryptoTab and CrypoTab Browser projects. Please re-post this text and share it with other computer users and friends. This way they will be aware of this type of fraud and more protected from scammers as well as warned about the danger of using domains in the following domain zones: TECH .PRESS .SITE .SPACE .STORE .ONLINE .WEBSITE .FUN.
