Acts 1:14 (KJV) These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

Acts 1:14 (KJV) Explained

This verse captures a powerful moment right after Jesusโ€™ ascension. The believers are gathered together, waiting for what He promisedโ€”the coming of the Holy Spirit.

๐Ÿ”น โ€œThese all continued with one accordโ€ฆโ€

They were unifiedโ€”same mind, same purpose. No division. They were fully focused on what Christ had told them to do (Acts 1:4โ€“5). Unity was key.

๐Ÿ”น โ€œโ€ฆin prayer and supplicationโ€

They werenโ€™t idleโ€”they were seeking God.

Prayer = communication with God

Supplication = earnest, humble requests

They were depending on God, not their own strength.

๐Ÿ”น โ€œโ€ฆwith the women, and Mary the mother of Jesusโ€ฆโ€

This shows:

Women were present and active in this gathering

Mary the mother of Jesus is mentioned one last time in Scripture here
She is not elevated above othersโ€”they are all together, equal, waiting.

๐Ÿ”น โ€œโ€ฆand with his brethrenโ€

These are Jesusโ€™ physical brothers (like James, Jude, etc.), who previously did not believe (John 7:5), but now they do. Thatโ€™s a powerful testimony of His resurrection.

---

โœจ Key Takeaway:

Before any ministry began in Acts, there was:

Unity

Prayer

Waiting on God

They didnโ€™t rush aheadโ€”they trusted Godโ€™s timing.
๐Ÿ”ฅ THEY REFUSED TO BE REPROVED ๐Ÿ”ฅ

There is a dangerous place a person can reach โ€” where correction is no longer received.

๐Ÿ“– โ€œHe, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.โ€ โ€” Proverbs 29:1 (KJV)

God, in His grace, sends reproof:
โœ” Through His Word
โœ” Through sound doctrine
โœ” Through faithful believers

But when someone keeps rejecting truthโ€ฆ something happens to the heart.

โš ๏ธ It hardens.

They donโ€™t want correction.
They donโ€™t want sound doctrine.
They only want what agrees with them.

๐Ÿ“– โ€œFor the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrineโ€ฆโ€ โ€” 2 Timothy 4:3

Instead of humbling themselves, they:
โŒ Argue against truth
โŒ Mock correction
โŒ Follow their own desires

And eventuallyโ€ฆ they become unreachable.

This isnโ€™t about being โ€œrightโ€ โ€” itโ€™s about being TEACHABLE.

๐Ÿ’ก A wise believer receives correction.
๐Ÿ’ก A humble heart trembles at Godโ€™s Word.
๐Ÿ’ก A spiritual mind is willing to be reproved.

๐Ÿ“– โ€œLet the word of Christ dwell in you richlyโ€ฆโ€ โ€” Colossians 3:16

Donโ€™t resist the truth when God shows it to you.

Because every time truth is rejectedโ€ฆ
the heart becomes a little harder.

๐Ÿ™ Stay soft. Stay humble. Stay in the Word.

โš ๏ธ WHERE โ€œANOTHER JESUSโ€ LEADS โš ๏ธ

Paul warned in 2 Corinthians 11:3โ€“4 that people would preach *โ€œanother Jesus.โ€* That warning isnโ€™t theoreticalโ€”itโ€™s happening.

Two major examples? Arianism and Modalism.

๐Ÿ”ด Arian / Kenotic Error
This teaching claims Christ โ€œemptied Himselfโ€ of His divine attributesโ€”reducing Him to a mere man.

But Scripture doesnโ€™t say He stopped being God.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Philippians 2:8 says He *โ€œhumbled himselfโ€*โ€”not that He ceased to be divine.

Thereโ€™s a huge difference:

* Humbled = He willingly lowered Himself
* Emptied of deity = He stopped being God

If Jesus were only a man, then logically:
โžก๏ธ A man died for sin
โžก๏ธ And no mere man can save the world

That destroys the gospel.

The truth?
He was fully God AND fully man**โ€”and His death has infinite value because of who He is.

๐Ÿ”ต Modalist Error**
Modalism denies the distinct persons of the Godhead and turns God into one person playing roles.

But Scripture shows distinction:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Mark 16:19 โ€” Christ sits at the *right hand of God*

Thatโ€™s not โ€œrole-playingโ€โ€”thatโ€™s relationship and distinction.

โš ๏ธ Why This Matters

False views of Jesus donโ€™t stay harmlessโ€”they lead to:

* another gospel
* another spirit
* spiritual confusion

Exactly what Paul warned about.

๐Ÿ‘‰ 2 Timothy 3:7 โ€” *โ€œEver learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.โ€*

โœ… The Biblical Christ

* Eternal God
* Manifest in the flesh
* Humbled Himself (not stripped of deity)
* Died for our sins
* Rose again in power

โšก๏ธ Final Thought

Not every โ€œJesusโ€ being preached today is the real one.

Test everything by Scriptureโ€”not systems, not traditions, not philosophy.

Because believing in *โ€œanother Jesusโ€* doesnโ€™t save.

Without Blemish and Without Spot #1

Shawn Brasseaux

โ€œBut with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:โ€ฆโ€ (1 Peter 1:19 KJV).

How was Israel to see Jesus Christ was โ€œwithout blemish and without spot?โ€

In Exodus chapter 12, JEHOVAH God through Moses commanded the Jews to observe Passover, the perpetual memorial to Him delivering them from Egyptian bondage: โ€œ[3] Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house: [4] And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.

โ€œ[5] Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: [6] And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. [7] And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. [8] And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.โ€

On Abib 10th (roughly April), each Israeli house selected a young male lamb, sheep or goat, โ€œwithout blemish.โ€ After confining it to scrutinize it for any disability or illness, they killed it in the evening of the 14th. At the time, no one realized that Father God had laid this out as a template for Jesus Christโ€™s final days. With the so-called โ€œtriumphal entryโ€ of early Matthew chapter 21, Christ enters Jerusalem. He will remain in (or near) Jerusalem until His arrest and crucifixion. In these three or four days leading up to Calvaryโ€™s cross, He can be examined, tested to see if He fits the type laid out in the Passover-lamb prophecy. We now contemplate His activities during His last week aliveโ€ฆ.

WHY MANY โ€œSAINTSโ€ REFUSE TO SAY: โ€œI WAS WRONGโ€

Ever notice how rare it is to hear someone simply admit error?

Not because truth isnโ€™t clearโ€ฆ
But because truth costs something.

Here are some reasons people resist it:

โ€ข PRIDE โ€“ โ€œI canโ€™t be wrong.โ€
โ€ข SHAME & EMBARRASSMENT โ€“ โ€œWhat will people think?โ€
โ€ข FEAR OF LOSING FOLLOWERS โ€“ โ€œWill people leave me?โ€
โ€ข FEAR OF LOSING REPUTATION โ€“ โ€œIโ€™ve built a platformโ€ฆโ€
โ€ข FEAR OF LOSING INCOME โ€“ โ€œWhat happens to the donations?โ€
โ€ข FEAR OF STANDING ALONE โ€“ โ€œWho will stand with me?โ€
โ€ข LOYALTY TO MEN โ€“ Following teachers instead of truth
โ€ข IGNORANCE โ€“ Not studying to be a workman
โ€ข THIN SKIN โ€“ Unable to receive correction
โ€ข ITCHING EARS โ€“ Preferring what feels good over what is true

And yesโ€ฆ sometimes:
โ€ข THEY WERE NEVER ROOTED IN TRUTH TO BEGIN WITH

๐Ÿ“– โ€œFor the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrineโ€ฆโ€ โ€” 2 Timothy 4:3

WHY DOES TRUTH FEEL HARD?
Because it humbles you.
Because it corrects you.
Because it forces change.

WHY DO LIES FEEL SWEET?
Because they protect your pride.
Because they comfort your flesh.
Because they let you stay the same.

Truth doesnโ€™t tickle earsโ€ฆ
It cuts. It exposes. It refines.

But hereโ€™s the reality:

๐Ÿ‘‰ The strongest believer is not the one who is never wrongโ€ฆ
๐Ÿ‘‰ Itโ€™s the one who is willing to say, โ€œI was wrong,โ€ and submit to truth.

Truth may wound your prideโ€ฆ
But it will heal your soul.

Should Christians Celebrate Holy Week and Easter?

Montana Bilger โ€” March 30, 2026

Many churches this past Sunday observed what is commonly called โ€œPalm Sunday,โ€ kicking off what is referred to as โ€œHoly Weekโ€ by many churches around the world. In more liturgical and especially Catholic traditions, thereโ€™s Spy Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and finally Easter Sunday.

While there is plenty of tradition surrounding these holidays, are Holy Week and Easter something we should observe as Christians?

Like everything we do in our lives, we should ask the questions: Why am I doing this? What does God want me to do? What does the Bible say? We need to walk with intention, clarity, and wisdom so that we are truly doing the Lordโ€™s will in our lives and not our own.

โ€œ[15] See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, [16] Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. [17] Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.โ€ โ€“ Ephesians 5:15-17

The hard truth, often ignored or resisted, is that the Bible does not instruct the Body of Christ to observe specific days, including Easter. The only time the word โ€œEasterโ€ appears in the Bible is in Acts 12:4, and it references the pagan observance of King Herod, not Christโ€™s resurrection. Under grace, no day holds greater spiritual significance than another. This coming Sunday is no more โ€œChristianโ€ than any other. In fact, the Apostle Paul rebuked the esteeming of certain days above others in Galatians, where believers had reverted to legalistic practices like esteeming circumcision and holy days, contrary to the gospel of grace.

โ€œ[9] But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? [10] Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. [11] I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.โ€ โ€“ Galatians 4:9-11

Again in Colossians, Paul admonishes the church not to subject themselves to things that were once required for Israel under the law, such as dietary laws or holy days, but are no longer required for the Body of Christ. The only holy days ever mandated by God were those in the Old Testament that concerned Israel under the law (Lev 23). The Body of Christ has no such requirements. Any rules or requirements not found in the Bible rightly divided, including the observance of holy days, amount to manโ€™s doctrines and lead to legalism. Itโ€™s fleshly religion that may indeed look good on the outside and make people feel good on the inside, but is contrary to Christ:

โ€œ[16] Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: [17] Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christโ€ฆ[20] Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, [21] (Touch not; taste not; handle not; [22] Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? [23] Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.โ€ โ€“ Colossians 2:16-17; 20-23
Beyond the doctrinal issue of esteeming days, Easterโ€™s pagan origins raise further concerns. Eggs, bunnies, and marshmallow peeps have nothing to do with Christ. The word Easter is derived from โ€œEostre,โ€ a Germanic goddess of spring and fertility. This festival, tied to the spring equinox, celebrated renewal and abundance. Similar pagan deities, like Babylonian Ishtar or Phoenician Astarte, inspired pre-Christian spring rituals. Eggs, dyed in Babylonian, Egyptian, and Persian rites, symbolized fertility and rebirth. Rabbits, prolific breeders, represented fertility in pagan festivals tied to goddesses like Eostre. Easter is dated on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox, which stems from its association with the pagan festivals that fell on the vernal equinox. The day you were born doesnโ€™t change, nor did the Jewish feast days under the law, but the shifting date of Easter is a testament to its pagan roots. The origins of Easter are pagan to the core, and these festivals were celebrated through fornication and lasciviousness that isnโ€™t worth expounding on.

Historically, modern Easter celebrations originate from Catholic missionaries re-packaging pagan holidays into โ€œChristianโ€ ones, in order to get more converts and in turn, more dollars and influence. Old pagan Gods became โ€œsaintsโ€ and old pagan traditions are masqueraded as something spiritually important. This is man-made religion and not Bible-believing Christianity.

This pattern of adopting heathen customs is not new, and Godโ€™s word is clear about it. In Jeremiah, God warned Israel not to learn the way of the heathen and declared that the customs of the people are vain. He then describes a practice strikingly similar to what we know today as a Christmas tree: cutting a tree out of the forest, decorating it with silver and gold, and fastening it upright with nails. God has never been pleased with His people dressing up pagan customs and calling them holy. Whether it is Easter eggs and bunnies in the spring or decorated trees in the winter, the practice of taking heathen traditions and turning them into โ€œChristianโ€ ones finds no support in Scripture.

โ€œ[2] Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. [3] For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. [4] They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. [5] They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.โ€ โ€“ Jeremiah 10:2-5

While many people celebrating Easter are not even aware of its pagan origins, the most common reason people typically celebrate it is that itโ€™s โ€œfun.โ€ In our consumerist culture, Easter-related commerce accounts for roughly $24 billion annually, and as Jesus taught in Matthew 6:21, โ€œFor where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.โ€ Letting the kids go find hidden eggs is โ€œfun.โ€ Candy is โ€œfunโ€. Bunnies are โ€œfun.โ€ However, good feelings and fun were never and are never the guide to what is right. This is the carnal mind, fulfilling the desires and lusts of the flesh and of the mind, following the course of the world that is led by Satan (Eph 2:1-3).

In fact, seeking fun and pleasure above the truth of God is called idolatry, the same way Israel did in the wilderness:

โ€œ[6] Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. [7] Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.โ€ โ€“ 1 Corinthians 10:6-7
Thereโ€™s a reason why many unsaved or even saved people only attend church twice a year on Christmas and Easter. Itโ€™s because the days are not only esteemed by the culture but also by the church, both spiritually and for the fun of festivities. This creates confusion, because rather than being identified by the clear preaching of the cross they believe for salvation, people identify themselves as Christians by the days they esteem, the festivities they observe, and their church attendance.

Even Christians who recognize that these days have no true spiritual significance still treat them as special. Missing church on Easter or the annual family Easter dinner would be unheard of. Dressing up a little bit more on Easter Sunday is commonplace. Why? Because itโ€™s Easter, of course! Itโ€™s an important day! Weโ€™ve always done it! This is tradition.

Is it wrong to go to church, eat dinner with your family, or get together? Of course not. Just understand why youโ€™re doing it and ensure youโ€™re doing it for the Lord, not for yourself. Why you do what you do matters!

A good litmus test to determine whether you esteem or value something: if you didnโ€™t do it, would it produce guilt, shame, or a feeling of loss and regret? Would you feel like you missed out? In the case of Easter, would you feel as if you were disobeying God by not observing it?

The intention of this article is not to pass judgment but rather to clarify your complete position in Christ apart from religious tradition and to help you consider the biblical truth concerning Easter and Holy Week. You are not a Christian because you celebrate Easter. You are not a โ€œbetterโ€ Christian because you celebrate Easter. You are a Christian by faith alone in the gospel of Christ: trusting in His death, burial, and resurrection for the forgiveness of your sins, and not by any works of your own (1Co 15:1-4, Eph 2:8-9). You are complete in Christ and do not need a day to make you holy; Christ already did that by His grace (Col 2:10, 1Co 3:16-17).

โ€œ[4] Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand. [5] One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. [6] He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks. [7] For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. [8] For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. [9] For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living. [10] But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. [11] For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. [12] So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.โ€ โ€“ Romans 14:4-12

In our church meeting this Sunday, we will not be celebrating Easter. We will continue to preach the gospel of the grace of God revealed to the Apostle Paul for the church, the Body of Christ (Rom 16:25-26, Col 1:25-29, Eph 3:1-10). Whatever you do this week or this upcoming Sunday, do not hide the clear preaching of the cross for salvation behind festivities and pagan symbolism. Do all for the glory of God.

โ€œ[31] Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. [32] Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God: [33] Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.โ€ โ€“ 1 Corinthians 10:31-33
