Gulag Caledonia: On Resistance to Evil - a talk by Dr Bruce Scott

“The line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either -- but right through every human heart -- and through all human hearts. This line shifts. Inside us, it oscillates with the years. And even within hearts overwhelmed by evil, one small bridgehead of good is retained.”

― Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago

"But he who does not resist evil at all, who refrains from denouncing it or giving it reprimand, even though quite internally focused and silent (if that was possible!), is already engaged in internal resistance fraught with practical conclusions and tensions, struggle and opposition."

― Ivan Alexandrovich Ilyin, On Resistance To Evil By Force

Matt Le Tissier in Conversation with Professor Richard Ennos in Edinburgh – May 4th 2023

“I don’t earn the amount of money that I was earning three years ago…, but I got to tell you if it happened again and I knew the consequences, I would 100% do the same thing.

It's a much nicer place to be in, to be able to sit here and talk openly and honestly about how I feel and what I went through. And not have to worry that if I say something wrong I'm going to lose my job.”

Matt Le Tissier in Conversation with Professor Richard Ennos in Edinburgh (Q&A) – May 4th 2023

“Every individual in society has the chance to choose which path they will tread. Despite the fact that this choice exists, it is infinitely harder to choose the path that leads upwards, than to continue down to the deep ravines………

The soulless ones have ensured that the routes to depravity and corruption are smooth, free of obstacles, and above all, convenient.

In contrast the upward paths are strewn with rocks, obstacles and hazards. And as the travellers ascend these paths they are ambushed by the collaborators of the soulless ones with smears and falsehoods.

….Despite all these inequalities, many have chosen to detach themselves from the main body of society who have either unwittingly, or knowingly, chosen to march down to the ravines of corruption and immorality.

….Exactly when the choice to move upwards is made does not matter. The important thing is that IT HAPPENS.”

— Professor Richard Ennos, 4th May 2023, Leith, Edinburgh
