Today dog lovers worldwide celebrate Dog Day! We love our four-legged companions and on this day we show how much we appreciate them! Pure breeds and mutts, heroes and family dogs - we cherish all of them!
We have to thank an Animal Advocate and a Pet & Family Lifestyle Expert, Colleen Paige for the creation of Dog Day. Years ago, on this day she has adopted her first furry companion, Sheltie. August 26th is even officially recognized as a festive occasion in New York legislation!
Dog day was created not only to celebrate but also to spread awareness of dog rescuers and shelters. That’s right, don’t just turn it into a spa day for your pet, give it some extra tasty treats and buy matching clothes for both of you! Visit a local animal shelter and adopt a puppy or donate to an animal charity of your choice. A fundraising event aimed to spread awareness of animal rights or local animal shelters would also be a great idea.
