Lots of talk about Potter having to deal with a huge training squad & how it’s against how he likes to work.

But today, even with Kante & Pulisic back, 3 extra academy players were involved.

Love academy involvement, but hardly an excuse if he’s actively adding numbers.

Havertz Major part of the attack Sickness

Core Foundation for right attacking structure is the main striker upfront especially when you have flair footed, witty supporting stikers and attacking midfielders behind. The nine is the reference point on which Major and minor direct and indirect attacking moves are built.

The mainstriker needs to be able to dictate play through movement, hold up play and link up play both directly and with his back on goal. For fast, intelligent attacking players like Mudryk, Joao and Noni, such a striker is the player of the dreams.

Simple case study is Weighost at united. While he was cheap and unknown of, Ten Hag has built a revitalised attacking united through sheer brilliance of this man. In return, people like Rashford, Anthony, Fernandez and Garnacho have flourished even futher as they have options of a striker that can position well for through balls and at the same time create attacking spaces through movement.

He can also be used to link up play through fast one-two interchange passes and even hold balls and pass in tight spaces using both physique and intelligence.... and also provide aerial intimidation and aggression.

This kind of striker also can fight through half spaces and burry half chances thereby giving Physcological moral boost to the rest of the attacking unit.

Vinius and Rodrygo have been enjoying and feeding off Benzema at real for ages.

These guys also Lead in setting press traps for midfield players intelligently.

Havertz as the main striker however has been offering almost zero of this. His lack of adequate physical strength that would help in ball retention through tight spaces is well documented. His lack of mental strength has resulted in frequent loss of possesion and failure to burry half chances or even aggresively lead the front line.

By sticking with him upfront, Potter has blunted the prospect of the rest of the attacking players around him. Coupled with other poor attacking structure decisions, chelsea has been barren.

We have not seen plenty of Fofana, but the little have seen has given me the impression that he could be better than any of Sterling, Havertz or Auba to be this kind of striker... if he can be afforded the chance and be allowed to grow through mistakes.

Potter needs to accept that this Havertz experiment has been running for a long time and has failed. Sticking to Such decisions only make his coaching credentials mediocre and average
