โ€‹๐ŸŽ™Graham Potter's Full Post-Southampton Press Conference:

๐Ÿ”นGraham Potter on Cesar Azpilicueta: "He's in hospital. He is conscious and speaking to his wife. Hopefully he is in the best place and we're monitoring. He needs to take all the precautions we need to take now."

๐Ÿ”นGraham Potter on Southampton defeat: "It was [a step backwards], certainly in the first half. Returning from the UCL and we had to make some changes, we lose a bit of fluidity and cohesion. Southampton mixed the game well but our performance wasn't what we wanted in the first half and I take as much responsibility in that. Second half was good and we deserved a goal. But when you don't, it's obviously difficult."

๐Ÿ”นGraham Potter on David Datro Fofana sub: "To use Raheem [Sterling] in the wide areas. It was a tricky one for David and not a reflection on him."

๐Ÿ”นGraham Potter on several players not being included in squad: "No injuries. Just a turnaround of the games and the demand of the games considering injury wise. So it was a case of managing the load and the squad."

๐Ÿ”นGraham Potter on supporters' reaction being fair: "After a 1-0 defeat at home, any criticism you get is understandable. We've had a tough period and are integrating young players into the Premier League. When results don't go your way it's tough. I'm not arrogant enough to say that their opinion isn't worth articulating. My job is to help the team and work through a team period. The truth is we took as step back with our performance in the first half. Our response in the second half was good, but it wasn't enough."

๐Ÿ”นGraham Potter on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: "I would say keep doing what he's doing. We had Kai and Raheem coming on but when you don't score โ€“ when you're creating chances โ€“ I understand the question."

๐Ÿ”นGraham Potter on the delay in coming to the press conference: "No conspiracy. I can't give you that. There is a lot of media and my colleague did the media before me. I always speak to you guys. When you lose 1-0 to Southampton, it isn't good enough with the results we've had. First half is as much my responsiblity as anybody."

Weโ€™re 11 points away from the relegation zone on the bright side. Still have Man Utd, Arsenal, Tottenham and Man City away from home. I would like for us to compete in the league next season please.

We paid a release clause for Graham Potter to get him out of Brighton. (ยฃ22m) then gave him (ยฃ12m) per year, (ยฃ60m) in total to make him one of the highest paid managers. Why? Would he have rejected ยฃ8/9m? All his staffโ€™s wages/clauses. Speechless situation.

โ€œSince am learning on the job, I should be paid like the apprentice that I am. Yes Ten Hag didn't need transfers to turn Manchester around.. TT picked a funny squad from Lampard and won the UEFA without any transfer. No it's not about time. It's about my class. Am learning on the job live with it. Before transfers I was talking about squad depth. After transfer am talking about new players integration 2months after.. Next I'll talk about my wife.. but I have a masters degree in human physycology...live with it as a fan. It's a processโ€

Jose Mourinho returns. Brings John Terry as his assistant. Stadium rocking as we scrape past Dortmund, 2-0 in ET. No European football next year, so he wins #4. We build on our core. 24/25, he wins the Champions League. #3 in his third stint. Heโ€™s done it. The man from Setรบbal.

The door?

No. Not yet.

Personally I want to see him get serious not get sacked. He should drop this little ideas in his head with this thing called "the process" and get to think of what club we are.

These shadows are pushing his comfort zones. You can hear from his talk. The coach is relaxed. What matters to him more is the shadow rather than figure. We need to see continuation and less gambling. Starting and playing all halves well rather than adapting to misplays. Consistency in team selection. Consistency style of play. This also means good opponents analysis and respective good game approach. In this we will have seen a process of some kind. This way we can have little belief and we can stomach even the weirdest of losses.

Above all, We need to see him look like he is feeling the pain of loosing. Let him pretend at least. And we do not need him to rub salt to our wounds from the losses with his "wisdom talks". Just get angry and get serious for once. Let's see some growth for Heavenly sake.

After Tottenham, Leeds, Dortmund and Leicester with same pain, Even the camel will break its back. That's Todd's camel... For some of our us, Leeds will be enough.

There are some games we saw positivity. But plenty we've seen crap. Let him choose how he is defined in our heads. And let him choose his words

After Leeds, with same mediocrity, We'll seek the best voice and dig for best insults and find the right words to call for his head and his mouth

It's coming. But it's also avoidable

If you could sign 1 player in the summer that is realistic, achievable and adds something to the squad - who would you pick?

Gvardiol on Nkunku:

"I have never seen before a player like Christoph, he is unbelievable. Every time I talk with someone about him I always say wherever he goes I want to go with him"

Gvardiol on failed chelsea move:
"My agent called me and said that Chelsea is extremely interested and, of course, you definitely think about a serious offer from a huge club like Chelsea. Leipzig said they didnโ€™t want to sell me. In the end I really struggled with that decision but we didnโ€™t make an agreement. It is what it is"

๐Ÿšจ Tuchelโ€™s complaints after the Arsenal match in pre season did not go down well, Potterโ€™s style suits the approach of the owners far better, those with knowledge said. Current feeling is to fight through this period.

Senior sources insist there have been a number of instances of Potter becoming upset and having tough conversations with players in the dressing room and during meetings. Potter is described as being intense at Cobham and there are no fears over his mentality.

Feeling inside Chelsea - Potter needs at least one pre season, he was brave to take the Chelsea job, sources noted how top managers donโ€™t take jobs mid season and that Chelsea took a risk.

I was talking to a friend about this and found it fascinating - how do you even conduct training sessions with 33 first-team players, like we have now?

Out of the 33, at least 10 will be unhappy with their status. At least 20 will believe they should start every game. It's wild.

Mourinho made it clear in his first interview at Chelsea that he wanted 21 outfielders + 3 GKs.

Conte won with a core rotation of 15 players in total.

Tuchel had 22 + 3 (including Anjorin and Tammy) in his first season.

Those seem to be the optimal numbers. 33 is crazy.

I suspect this is why the club is giving Potter a long rope, in which case you cannot fault them. If you want a long-term philosophy, using 33 players in training won't cut it.

33 is a pre-season number and even then coaches quickly break that down into something manageable.
