Some Chelsea fans will find a way to blame Cucurella here, not even surprised

Fair play to Cucurella yesterday, had Cancelo, De Bruyne,Bernado and Mahrez running at him the whole game, Cancelo and De Bruyne constantly trying to 2v1 him but heโ€™s been blamed for a goalkeeping error. No fullback can cope with this

10 First team players injured, 8 of them are starters, yes but letโ€™s keep pointing fingers when we lose matches. No team in Europe has lost so many starters due to injuries this season

Chelsea are going to be disciplined with their spending in January however they still want to do business in midfield and forward areas, itโ€™s a busy time at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea wonโ€™t be โ€œHeld to ransomโ€ in January.

The City Report

No question that city game despite being a loss did not leave a soo bad taste in the mouth. More so because of the approach from the coach and the choice to loose with dignity.

Emergence of Zakaria has been the story so far. Another one that has gone unnoticed is one Chukuemeka. Its long since I saw a kid who can play in central midfield, in wings and central attacking midfield confidently. This deserves a personalised analysis in another episode of fireside.

Noticeable recently however is the shift from back five to a back four which results to deployment of more midfield and attacking players. This has resulted in more fluidity of both personell and the ball.

Deployment of both Kovacic and Zakaria, both with close dribbling abilities has helped counter Opponents pressing. Rather than starting our plays from the goalkeeper to the centrebacks and then to the wingbacks, we have had the option of either of the two to drop back to pick balls making us less predictable and more harder to press.

The change of shape has allowed people to play their desired positions. Mount though didnt feature has again flourished as a true 8. This has helped with linking our attack to our midfield. A thing has been hindering our transition plays for a while. It has also enabled us to have more numbers in attack with both Pulisic and Ziyech coming in and playing in positions they are more effective at. This has also given our attack another dimension through Pulisic penetration and Ziyech vertical balls to the box.

Patterns of play were visible in both midfield and attack. But its the final third that we looked more clueless of execution of last pass or last move. There were moments when our players mentality of taking easy options was at play and the liking to take a back pass rather than taking risk and forcing play in the box.

With solid attacking players like Nkunku and others coming in however, this will be addresed. In a such a system even the new kids Fofana, Santos and Arsene can immediately find their footing in.

The worry however is the whether we can be consistent in perfomance. Maintaining same shape and style day in day out will help with growth in both players understanding of what is required of them and perfecting them. The patterns of play and movement will become more evident and more lethal.

Opponents isolation in attack, long range shots outside the box, final pass incisivemess, Take ons and Confidence in posession, Overloads support in midfield are just some of the things that will perfect this system

Being Consistent is the only thing that will bear perfection.. Perfection bears Perfomance. Perfomance bears results.....and results is what will save potter in the end

Potter on Chelsea's injury crisis: "I've never experienced anything like it."
Not looking good for us.

Reece James, Mendy, Chilwelll, Sterling, Pulisic, Fofana, Broja and Mount all injuried.

10th in the table, with just a plus 1 goal difference. We play City again in the FA cup on sunday at the Etihad, then Fulham away, and a week later face liverpool away.

Ball-watching is a bad midfield habit to have. It can distort a teamโ€™s whole defensive structure.Gallagher should recognise Jorginho has tracked the overlap, then cut the lane off to Rodri. He doesnโ€™t so Kovaฤiฤ‡ gets dragged across which leaves space for Walker to assist the goal.

Not sure whatโ€™s going on at Chelsea, but that defeat is as bad as you will see a team organised off-the-ball. Players just running aimlessly without a sense of direction or how to keep the shape compact.
