Man Of God??
Sometimes, when a crazy bishop comes to your home and tells you to step outside so that he can pray to your wife, then in a short while you hear moans and later he walks out with dripping fingers and you say "amen man of God" it's at this stage that you MUST understand you are crazily and emotionally brainwashed and you cannot make a sound judgement.
When a Chelsea fan tells you that "when did we start playing like Newcastle" you just know this is an emotional bastard who'd have asked the same question in 2011/2012 when football dynamics of Manchester city was changing. In his head, Newcastle is just Newcastle disregarding the recent dynamics. They are the same guys who keep reminding us about Tuchel sacking forgetting that some of us were so pissed off with his sacking than even them but have moved on the same way we will move on from Potter if it happens. But no.. baby emotions keeps getting better of them.
For those who follow my posts closely, they'd agree when Potter makes a mistake I always bash him mercilessly. But being emotionally stable is having the ability to give a devil it's dues.
Tactical choice for Potter today was spot-on. Asking why we should not have started wingers is just dumb emotions. With how Newcastle press these days, that would have been catastrophic. Common sense was containment first then introducing attack minded midfielders and wingers in the second half when their pressing energy levels have dropped. And that's exactly what happened. Otherwise we'd be all lamenting here after picking good four goals from the net in the first half.
People tend to forget that Potter has not had a pre season. And funny they tell you that even Brighton plays with wingers. Forgetting that it's him who introduced that at Brighton and therefore knows better when and when not to deploy that approach.
The goal we conceded was not from a tactical error but Poor positioning from Hall and poor awareness and anticipation from Koulibaly
Tactical and technical training is a process. And the second half proved that to everyone. Tactical and technical plus fighting spirit came to light and so sure everyone loved what they saw in the closing stages.
Going forward the only way we can judge Potter is whether we can have the same consistency and whether we can have tactical and technical growth. When the day comes to call for his neck I will lead the lynching mob. But now common sense dictates that I do just that. Common sense.

Graham Potter on working during the World Cup break:
"There won't be many of us. A lot of the guys go away, But those that remain will work and go again. We have had a tough period and there have been a lot a positives but also some negatives."
"Sometimes you have to accept the struggles you have. It is about regrouping and starting again. It is the second half of the season and there is a long way to go."

We all know he's not been fit for a long time and we're using him due to lack of options, but my oh my Kovacic has just not been himself this season.
Man has lost his techniques and sometimes doesn't close down spaces faster around our box without the ball
Recent rumours of certain players being unhappy with Tuchel sacking and considering their future? Well, Kovacic was one of the names mentioned ๐ค

Understanding Ziyech & Pulisic Puzzle
Before the games started I said openly I understood what Potter was trying to do and that was a good line up for the match. And I also said that I expected Pulisic to come in later to help unlock Newcastle after containment. And it did happen immediately after the second half. The discussion was on general tactical formation and not the tactical approach and tweeking for extra man in second half was only a variation of the approach on the formation. Without emotions it would be Common sense again.
So the question is why wouldn't we start Pulisic and Ziyech from the start against strong opponents? wouldn't it help us be more attack focussed. The answer is both yes and No. In a normally well balanced team that should be the case. In this team is a big NO. It's called football dynamics and the quest to find right balance between defence and attack. And as one admin pointed out here recently that is due to Incompetence from Marina in assembling a more dynamic team.
For those who like throwing Brighton case study on our faces, If you compare Trossards, March and Mitomas defensive ethics to Pulisic or Ziyech you'd understand why. Their defensive and general work ethics to help the team in defensive transition is what Ziyech and Pulisic lack. This is also not helped by our deep midfield player profiles and composition of J5, Kova and RLC. Chelsea currently lacks a solid ball winning midfielder and having these three plus the two defensively ineffectual wingers alone would leave the team utterly exposed.
Otherwise with solid defensive midfielder like Kante, Rice or Caicedo behind them, you'd expect a more offensive team with yet a solid foundation to make them flourish without too much worrying about the defensive side of the game
So this is not necessarily about them but ineffectiveness in composition of the whole team.
As at now, this Chelsea team is so imbalanced with half baked players that would make such an experiment a disaster. Expecting the same level of attacking freedom while having no outright ball winning midfielder behind in real world is impossible. In a virtual simulation management game though it's something else.

Being in a process doesn't mean you lose every game. Being in a process doesn't mean your allowed to finish 8th place. Being in a process isn't an excuse for poor lineups, strange tactical decisions and bad performances. Sarri was a project manager and came 3rd. No excuses.
Lampard had a transfer ban and came fourth. Tuchel took over a team 9th in the league and came fourth + winning the champions league. Don't care if it's a project or not. We need to see the process itself and by that , we mean it needs to change early next year

Fabrizio Romano: "I wouldnโt rush to conclusions about this new project just yet. All people at Chelsea know that this will take time. It takes time to bring in new ideas, new manager, new methods, and the new directors who will join the club in 2023, itโs part of the rebuilding"
Fabrizio: "Everything is new at Chelsea, weโre only a few months into this new era. I think this World Cup break comes at a good time for them. Itโs an opportunity to re-start, understand the new vision, and work hard for it."

Thereโs a reason why Tuchel won the CL with this squad & controlled every single one of those KO games in terms of chances created.Chelseaโs attack is/was an issue but Tuchel could cope. He needed that midfield upgrading to give him what injury-free Kantรฉ/Kova gave him back then.

When Todd Boehly was presented with the chance to sign Cristiano Ronaldo for Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel never gave it any serious consideration. One reason why was because he spoke to Ralf Rangnick.
Ronaldo on Ralf Rangnick:
โIf youโre not even a coach, how are you going to be the boss of Manchester United? Iโd never even heard of him.โ
