Ultimately we wasted 30 mins with the wrong set up. Potter has to hold some for that but changed it fairly early and we controlled the game since then. But in decent positions. Couldn't fashion out a big chance. Can't stress how we need new midfielders, including a defensive one

Heartbreaking but can't complain with the draw, we were simply not good enough. Its clear more investment is needed if we're to keep competing with Europe's elite. The youth need to learn game management and how to keep the ball, it's worrying how inevitable that goal felt. We score and suddenly we forget how to string 3 passes together. Sterling, Loftus-Cheek woeful.
Still in good position to secure top 4, Kepa still in great form, on to the next!

One thing I will say about Potter is he really needs to start picking players on merit, rather than names. Number of players such as Broja and Pulisic have more than earned a run of starts recently. Need to be bold, not persist with what we know doesnβt work.
Looking at the results today,i wonder what was the point of resting players midweek vs Brentford

Another tactical Naivety
It was a draw and a point. But somehow it felt and still feels like a loss.
Blame is 80% on potter 20% on players.
Crazy how potter trusts his neck to hangout while people like RLC are on the other side of the blade. He needs to have a clear history on how consistent this guys have been with perfomance inconsistency. The only thing they know is being consistent in inconsistency.
But thats where the blame stops.
His experiments with team selection, and players positioning and assigning roles should stop. We cannot keep calling the guy a genius for his susbstitutions just because he had his lineup wrong in the first place. We cannot afford to keep on starting games the way we have been doing in the last few games.
Player like sterling have been barely useful in games. Its easy to call him out and demanding for his benching... but until he is given an opportunity to play to his strength and then flop, blame should squarely lie on Potters door.
First let me say I have never been a fan of sterling. Have always felt he is technically poor and just covers his inadequecies with his runs. But the man is our player and he has his strengths that we need to harness.
In the past articles have said its either Potter finds right position for him or he benches him. With his current role his contribution is worthless.
Sterlings strength is his runs and his right foot. His left is weak his close dribbling and first touch useless. He likes take ons but when he had space. While tight marked he is useless. To play him in a 4-3-3 or 4--4-2 as wide man brings the best in him. But we are playing in a 3-4-3 and 3-5-2 so we must find solutions for in same setup or bench him. Worse, we potter is playing him on the right side of the field.
Sterling cannot come to his left. And he cannot offer consistent crossing deliveries because of his weakness. So by playing him on the right hand side you limiting his right foot and he becomes as useless as any portsmouth player you'd get. Anyone who has played football would understand what am saying. Sterling can only be effective on the right if he can do precise crossing or shoot with his left. Which he cant
Sterling is also useless as a support striker. His first touch, his close dribbling ability and the tightness of spaces in this areas make him loose balls more often than any normal striker would. Not to mention is aerial abilities and the ability to link up play.
And am not even talking about the right tactical set up we were supposed to deploy yesterday. Analysing recent united games should have given us an early idea of how our midfield was to be set up in the first place. It was as clear as glass.
