Gallagher Chance to Step Up
With the Ngolo Kante injured in the 85th minute, Tuchel with a variety of options to choose in the midfield from the bench, decided on Connor Gallgher as his replacement.
And in 13 minutes played, Connor had won 2 tackles, won 2/2 of Ground Duels and made 1 key pass. Tellingly, he lost possession 2 times too.
Jorginho played 73minutes had 1 tackle, 5/4 successful ground duels, 2 key passes and 10 lost possession
Kante in 85minutes had 2/3 ground duels won, 13 possession lost, 1 tackle, 1 Key pass
But it is having a look at their 2021/2022 full season stats that should point a better picture.
Gallagher
Tac-44/69- 33defensive 3rd, 20 mid 3rd, 16 Attacking 3rd
Dribbled past- 47
Tack 14/61 =23%
Pressure success 222/783=28.4%
Blocks- 56 & 10 shots
Interceptions- 43
Kante
Tackles 34/57- 22defensive 3rd, 22 mid 3rd, 13 attacking 3rd
Dribbled past-19
Tackels success 19/38= 50%
Pressure success 134/385= 34.8%
Blocks -37 & 2 shots
Interceptions- 44
Considering that Gallagher is a box to box midfielder rather than outright defensive midfielder, these stats point to a potential Kante backup and replacement if we dont bring in another defensive midfielder.
His attacking stats are way above Kantes but Its Connors almost identical work rate to Kante that makes him a good candidate for the defensive duties irregardless of the slightly inferior defensive stats
Its his, what Admin Jednak calls "Headless chicken runs" that will make him flourish here
The boy has never shyed away in showing leadership and taking responsibilities.. now is a great opportunity for him to step up and show us what he is made of.

Italyβs youth teams coordinator Viscidi on Casadei: "Heβs a modern midfielder. Out of all the youth team midfielders heβs the one with the greatest aptitude for attacking runs & scoring. He attacks penalty area better than anyone else weβve seen, better than Frattesi or Barella"
βAnd heβs also strong in the air, something thatβs unusual among younger players.β

Michy Batshuayi on lack of game time at Chelsea:
"I cannot speak without knowing about Romelu, but for me itβs very clear: the problem was Diego Costa. At that time, I think there was no player who couldβve dethroned him."
"In my second season, while I was having a great pre-season, Morata arrived. So even there it was complicated. But after that, despite that, every time I came on I scored."
"In fact, itβs quite strange to say, but the team was so strong that it was easy to score goals. When you play with certain players, everything becomes easy."

Michy Batshuayi on Antonio Conte:
"He said everything and the opposite of everything. When I arrived for the first time, he called me, we had a long conversation, and he told me that his plan was for me to play in a front two with Diego Costa."

"Iβm sure we wouldβve had a great season together. But since the club is spinning, I canβt even say anything. People would say that the guy is angry, that he only thinks about himself. The truth is that I have been messed about a lot."
