Gallagher Chance to Step Up

With the Ngolo Kante injured in the 85th minute, Tuchel with a variety of options to choose in the midfield from the bench, decided on Connor Gallgher as his replacement.

And in 13 minutes played, Connor had won 2 tackles, won 2/2 of Ground Duels and made 1 key pass. Tellingly, he lost possession 2 times too.

Jorginho played 73minutes had 1 tackle, 5/4 successful ground duels, 2 key passes and 10 lost possession

Kante in 85minutes had 2/3 ground duels won, 13 possession lost, 1 tackle, 1 Key pass

But it is having a look at their 2021/2022 full season stats that should point a better picture.

Considering that Gallagher is a box to box midfielder rather than outright defensive midfielder, these stats point to a potential Kante backup and replacement if we dont bring in another defensive midfielder.

His attacking stats are way above Kantes but Its Connors almost identical work rate to Kante that makes him a good candidate for the defensive duties irregardless of the slightly inferior defensive stats

Its his, what Admin Jednak calls "Headless chicken runs" that will make him flourish here

The boy has never shyed away in showing leadership and taking responsibilities.. now is a great opportunity for him to step up and show us what he is made of.
