Sportsmail can disclose that Saudi Arabiaβs Public Investment Fund [PIF] have billions of pounds of assets managed by Clearlake, raising further questions into the sourcing of Clearlake Capitals funding.
Chelsea sources insist that there was no Saudi involvement in Clearlake Capitalβs purchase of the club, thus alleviating concerns over any potential conflicts of interest.
The Premier League were sufficiently convinced of the source of Clearlakeβs funding to approve the Chelsea deal quickly after the government finally gave the go ahead in May.
