The Alonso excitement may have overshadowed both the negative loss and positive display from some of the players and the whole team.

Three positives specifically.

1. Palmer's defensive contribution was probably the best I have ever seen from him.

2. Fofana made a single error. Otherwise the man was carrying the ball from defense to attack like he was on drugs and still fell back to cover like a maniac.

3. The midfield ditched the shitty passing. For once I saw people with confidence to dribble.

4. The defensive awareness and concentration from everyone was top notch.

5. To Rosenior, McFarlane may be a snitch. But he is shrewd and smart with acres of potential.

It may have been the new manager's fever in play, or truly proving the Rosenior sabotage narrative, but whatever it was, if it can be maintained & Improved, the sky should never be the limit.

I believe that if Man City hadn't approached Maresca to take over from Pep Guardiola, Maresca would still be at Chelsea today.

He wanted that move and looked for excuses to justify his resignation. That's how it works for coaches. They don't have loyalty because one small misstep and they are sacked.

So, when a massive opportunity arises, they push for it. That's the game. I don't blame him. How could he turn down the opportunity to become a manager at a much more stable club like Man City just to stay as head coach at Chelsea?

On top of that, Chelsea didn't upgrade his contract or status after winning the Club World Cup. We didn’t give him much to believe in.

The game is the game. Both parties played their cards. I just hope we have learned from it.
