Sources at the club believe the eight-year age gap between Marc Cucurella and Jorrel Hato could make for an ideal mentor-mentee relationship at left-back. Cucurella, who overcame early struggles at Chelsea to become a key player and fan favorite, is seen as a good role model for Hato.

Hato wouldn’t be expected to take Cucurella’s spot right away, but he’s progressed faster than most players his age — both in maturity and ability.
