Chelsea 2024/25 - A Review Credits to ExpectedChelsea via X
May 24, 2025: Itβs one day before Chelseaβs final league game, capping off a rollercoaster season unlike any other. The purpose of writing this article now, and not after the game, is to eliminate any outcome bias β the thoughts stated in this article will remain regardless of where the team will finish.
The fact that the team can finish 3rd, 7th, or anywhere in between sums up the sheer volatility and unpredictability of this season.
In a lot of ways, on-pitch parallels can be drawn to 2019/20 β a developing team led by a developing manager, trying to get Champions League-football against a flawed set of opponents. However, what sets this season apart is the chaos. Injures? Check. Fan discontent? Check. A wild summer transfer window? Check. Rumours swirling around every first-team player? Check that too.
Despite everything though, Chelsea could still get nearly 70 points β a reasonably solid achievement in and of itself. 70 points and the prospect of Champions League football would have gladly been accepted by most if not all Chelsea fans in August 2024. But more than the final result itself, this article aims to dissect the journey that has brought the team here.
