It's no secret Maresca has been planning his next matches based on how the opponents play. A million times he has said he watches hours and hours of opponents before matches.

It's a fact that the last match performance against united was underwhelming in spite of the draw

My theory is that perhaps the man suffered from lack of videos to adequately prepare the team.

Well, he may have had videos from PSV but with a different set of players, there's no way the man could have properly and sufficiently planned.
