Against Liverpool, Slot assigned Curtis jones to constantly Man mark Palmer and greatly neutralized Chelsea's attacking threat.
Against newcastle, Maresca tweaked and majorly played Palmer to play-make from behind our lines. This proved efficient against an also highly pressing newcastle team
Today it will be interesting to see how we will deploy.
One sure thing though is United must adopt a conservative and aggressive style if they are to have any chance. Just the way a more fancied Liverpool did. There is nothing shameful in them admitting our tactical superiority over them.
But if they try to play anything fanciful and adventurous like they did against the second string Leicester team, it doesn't matter whether they are at home. We will whoop and whack them so shamefully and so bad.
Admission of weakness is in itself grace.

Maresca needs to switch up his markers because this isn't working. Lavia and Caicedo are pushing far too high and there's an ocean between them and the backline on the break. Gusto's been trying to underlap for Noni but may be far more useful plugging that gap instead.

They have been good but so have we.
They are using the same Liverpool tactics of holding positions when out of possession and quickly target long balls behind our backline

Malo Gusto is the one and only that can make a difference in this match and he has not been to his best, he can't play the false no.8 role efficiently when we have possession.
I would've loved Reece in that position but Maresca knows he isn't fit enough to do that kind of workrate.
Let's hope he improves in 2nd Half together with our wide wingers

When the opponent has a high line and we can get in behind, weβre dangerous.
When they drop off and force us to make decisions while driving at them, weβre terrible. The main reason why I think Nkunku will find his way into the team this season.
