Until that goal. Cucu was playing very well. Id even say we should push him to the midfield role if caicedo deal falls through. Tough tackling, aggression... we cannot use one mistake to crucify the guy.. lets give the devil its due.. if we had a good defensive midfielder that goal was avoidable

Overall, We played well. But its clear we are still a work in progress. Both halves had both tastes of bitter and sweet. We started the first half with wild runs rather than strategic pressing. Overall we were able to contain Newcastle running game but had some really bad moment's with wrong pressing triggers. Second half was better managed especially with pressing. Newcastle had a limited bench however and we made more changes than them so its safe to say they had also run tired against plenty of fresh substitutes legs Chelsea introduced.
We really need to work on our pressing triggers. Most of the times we are all over.. not the same wave length as Pochs Tottenham was.. we are still a work in progress
The Centre back pair of Chaloba and Humphrey ran full 90 without a glitch. Humphrey in CB role was something else... his vision, composure, marking, Positioning and anticipation were just top class. Chaloba had a superb top game, but this could just be saw that cuts all ways. he performs well, his sale appeal increases, with Humphrey's performing too, his replacement seems to be there...Money may appeal to Todd but the man deserves Chelsea shirt
As much much as people may hate to hear, currently, a midfield with Gallagher in Defensive midfield is more functional and more stable than one without him. Casadei and Enzo pairing sends the Kovacic Jorginho vibes with shaky defensive grit. Casadei is better Enzo replacement than his partner. Defensively a midfield with Gallagher and Andre appears more stable and its this pairing that should Partner Enzo. Positive as it may have sounded though, we need a defensive midfielder
Peoples hate for Cucu is just heart shuttering. Had it not for the mistake, the Man was destined for man of the match award. Yes he is too rush, but the man was caught between marking two players. Of course he got it wrong later but its unfair not to point out that its because he had stepped in midfield to help. another reason why we need a Defensive Midfielder.
James comeback was felt as he captained the team. His twin brother also performed well when he replaced him in the second half
Jackson looks great value for his money. His positioning, link up play, aggression and finishing was the icing of the first half showing
Again as I pointed out last time to some peoples disdain, Sterling 300k a week salary vs his output looks seriously a disservice and daylight heist to Chelsea. We should be seriously encouraging Saudi offers for him

Emotional Fanbase hate for Kepa is just unimaginable. The saints who always cast the first stone even when its unwarranted... one or two errors and the Man turns into a dog.. Even when the positives outway the negatives, we still hate. The man was not even in the top 10

The funny thing about this goal is that I know for a fact that Mount couldnβt play that ball and Havertz wouldnβt make the finish.
