Mauricio Pochettino
After the 4-4-3 debacle and the Potter failure, Todd must have realized that perhaps he is a better business man than a sporting guru and the need to take time to filter through the managerial appointment carefully
Itβs criminal to judge Pochettino with PSG as the tool. That egocentric dressing room has previously had Emery, Ancelotti and Tuchel and none achieved anything better than Pochettino. There the rich kids felt they are superior to taking in crucial tactical instructions. At Spurs, after Pochettino, spurs have had 5 managers amongst them Conte and Mourinho who have spent millions times more than he did but have performed dismally than him. So yes, Poch is great.
Is he Great than Enrique or Nagelsman? Yes and No. On the fireside when Enrique and Nagelsman rumors surfaced, I pointed out clearly neither of them would be my first choice. Yes, Enrique has won trophies. With a Barca team that was at its peak. Before that at Celta Vigo he had finished 9th and 7th with Roma. With Spain national team, itβs hard to also say he was successful. So the question was how heβd do with average players. Choice between Nagelsman vs. Enrique it was always Enrique because of stability heβd bring, between Poch and Enrique itβs down to the profile of players you have. In a team with big established players it will always be Enrique. A team that wants to transition and develop players, it will always be Poch. An established manager comes with transfer demands and especially now that we are almost violating Fair Play, that is bound to generate lots of clashes and instability in the team.
But it is not just that. But its how Poch sets up his team that I have no doubt he is a good choice. It was difficult playing against TT with their systematic pressing under Pochettino. They just donβt press stupidly. They thrived in setting up pressing traps well and finding the right shapes in back four.
In attack, Poch teams uses depth to create spaces to run and attack. For players who are fast and technical like Joao (if he signs), Nkunku, Mudryk, Datro and Broja this will be very important. For James, Gusto, Chilwel they only have to look at Trippier and Rose on how effective they were to realize that you donβt need to play in a back three to be effective forward. For mount this will also be his rebirth. In a full throttle attack, he deploys minimum 5 players with flying full backs. For younger players Poch is a dream.
We are not pre conditioned to play 3-4-3 but if shit hits the fan, Pochettino used this severally with Spurs. If he fails then itβs only Klopp or Pep that should be appointed next
Poch is not a good appointment. He is a super good appointment. He offers both emotional stability and tactical know how to lead this Chelsea team and the Todd project.

Understand Charlie Webster is set to leave Chelsea.
Webster was told last summer heβs not seen as a future 1st teamer. Charlie wanted to prove them wrong & stayed, but Chelsea havenβt changed their mind & Charlie accepts time to move on.
Told Dortmund retain long term interest.

Chelsea plan to hire Paul Mitchell. He is set to join in a senior post. While his friendship with incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino is a major attraction, he is also an ideal man to shift unwanted players.

Had an argument with a fellow Chelsea fan offline, and I told him that the Roman model was bound to be phased out sooner than later and here is why
Money :Roman came into football at the time where the "haves" were really few and the "have not" were more. This created a natural
Separation, what this means is that Chelsea were operating on a different level financially than their fellow competitors. In todays game a Brighton or Southampton can casually spend 100mill+ in a transfer window and not flinch. Every one is Rich so the gap is closer than ever.
Talent :The talent pool we could access then due to our financial advantage can now be accessed even much earlier before peak season. Take a look at Evan Fergus /Havertz for the fee we paid, we signed an arguably less talented player. So where is the advantage? Clubs with proper
Planning are tapping into the superstar market way before the stardom happens, basically before you sign your Neymar from Barca, a club like Southampton has signed him from Santos. Crazy crazy stuff.
Coaches :Hire & fire the MO of Roman, as Mikel Obi mentioned "when he touched
down with his helicopter the manager was gone "this worked at the time because the few available class managers then prioritized winning over anything else and clubs of status attracted them. Today stability is the watchword. Why do you think Pep turned us down severally??
Stability plays a very key role in a managers success and this extends to players too. Also the constant chop and change meant that we had blow through atleast half the elite coaches available, a constant chop and change means at some point we will be left with re-hiring ex
Coaches or settling for unproven ones (that the fanbase hates so much) either way that course of action was bound to backfire. Many ofcourse will interpret this as a dig on Roman, no its not its just to show that what he was doing was unsustainable regardless of the intention.
