RMCHL โ€“Tactical Preview

Real Vary their midfield 3 to flat without possession and inverted triangle while attacking with camavinga or Tchoumeni holding with Modric and Valverde offering attack support to circulate and keep possession. Madrid varying their attacking styles makes them quite unpredictable.

Attacking, plenty of times Rodygo and Vinicius play in half wing coming in targeting the spaces between fullback and center back to create confusion in shapes and allow Carvajal and Alaba to fly out wide. Their coming in also stretches central defensive areas allowing Valverde to join attack and Modric to slice in dangerous passes and opportunities from the spaces created from the runs. The ability for Benzema to hold play also brings the threat of the half wingers and supporting attacking midfielders into the box. If allowed into one vs. one situations in the wings during breaks, The two wingers target spaces behind the fullbacks, getting with the balls into the negative spaces which in turn drugs Centre backs out of shape most of the times leaving Benzema with acres of spaces inside the box
While defending, Real Press with speed and break with accurate speed when possession is won. With Rodrigo often tucking deep into the midfield to make it a 4 to help win possession as Vinius keeping an overload a little bit wide outside the midfield four to receive balls from the defensive shape and initiate attack. Through his dribbling and holding, he moves top and wide stretching the defenders and allow the other attackers get from the defensive shape and join the attack. To contain counters from this, one of Alaba or Carvajal moves inside to make a back three.

Solution?....If we make mistake of opening the game up, try to play this game with pace or try to press all over the pitch as we have been doing, or even think to try and go with them man to man, Madrid will lick their tongues. Real thrive in spaces and over rely on Vinicius dribbling and Rodrigo making the runs from midfield. Vinicius will require constant James attention and in no way can we double mark him as this leaves plenty of spaces. James with good defensive midfielder in front of him like Kante should contain the Vinicius threat adequately.

Rudiger and Alaba also carry balls from central defensive areas into midfield. If we can maintain the crazy pressing we do all over the field, it can only create spaces behind our carelessly pressing players. This will be the disaster that killed Liverpool with their gegenpress.
With a number of critical players on risk of suspension, playing an open game will expose them to plenty of risks. Playing compact and relying on Mudryk, Joao and Sterling pace to break will give us the only fighting chance. But above all we need good shape, good application and good work rate players. Real is very beatable and we have the players to do it

Jose Mourinho is ready to leave AS Roma only for certain clubs including Chelsea or PSG. If Chelsea make an offer, Mourinho will push to go.

Solid line-up, but does that attack give us any goals in transitions?

Let's Pray...

If the application is right, especially how we press, you can never field a better team than this. Lampard has had the formation and selection right. This team can even squeeze a win here. with that midfield three, Reece can still overlap to add width in attack. Kova will help with the madrid pressing as well and the goal threat from Sterling and Felix will be as good as any we'd have fielded.

This just sums up our mentality of the whole season...
๐Ÿ‘42โค4
The lack of senior players, leaders, experience in the squad was always concerning, but what is significantly more jarring is that almost none of the senior guys remaining in the squad are worth their salt. You expect those ones to be the first names in the XI, to lead by example

and set uncompromising standards. Unfortunately the bar for our younger players is set too low. Don't think any Chelsea fan would mind benching Kovacic, Sterling, Kepa, Koulibaly for Mudryk, Madueke, Slonina, Datro Fofana etc.
Let those be the positives from a wretched season.

Bizarre

Yesterday, no matter how bad you detest Franks tactical abilities like me, there is just no way you can pin the loss on him. What happened yesterday was break of day and night between the qualities in squads both individually and team wise. While Madridโ€™s team was well oiled machine serviced with an experienced gaffer, ours was just different.

Had Lampard not employed the tactics as he did, weโ€™d have been smashed, whipped and abused like the shitty team we are.

That was a lesson on how a team works. Pressing the right time, right shape and right places, being attacked until you wish for the toilet and being harassed such that you wet the bed while trying to attack. Thatโ€™s how we are supposed to play.

How did the beast suddenly look like a squirrel? How did those guys turn Ngolo into Bakayoko? Letโ€™s give that Italian old man credit he deserves. Even Pep would have been hammered had he tried that his 3-2-4-1 thereโ€ฆ and Rudiger was the bench warmer.

Had it not been for the second goal Iโ€™d say we are still inโ€ฆ. but manโ€ฆ. Miracles? โ€ฆ I think we are seriously mentally and spiritually incapacitated for one. While we can defend, you just canโ€™t see anyone in the offensive department who can take the game by scruff on his own. Sterling dribbles like the old man he is, Havertz attacks like two brick have been tied on his hips and Mudryk is taking ages to find his feetโ€ฆ That Joao boy has the aura of a superstar but output of an amateur. Itโ€™s Just so hard to rate him.

Positives?

Maybe next season we will be become the first team in history to win all of UCL, Europa and Uefa Conferenceโ€ฆ.

Leeds also won UCL previously known as European Cup in 1975? Standards can deteriorate so fast. Time to get a good manager in early, get the best young players that can be coached, dispose the sacks of sand we have and start the rebuild

In the summer I want to see the club recruit at least a couple of proven leaders, I donโ€™t mind the young signings but you need to have a balance and games like last night just go to show how sorely we lack leaders.
