As part of the transition, Clearlake will also acquire Mark Walter’s ownership interest and therefore acquire full control of the Club. 🤝

Hansjörg Wyss will remain an important stakeholder and partner in the ownership group.

 Clearlake deal to buyout Walter & Boehly is worth close to £1 Billion. Boehly and Walter will make only a relatively small profit from the sale, with Chelsea insiders hopeful their departure will enable the club to make more meaningful progress in some bigger projects. Work to improve and modernise Cobham training ground is expected to start soon.

Clearlake has joined forces with Hansjorg Wyss to purchase each of the 12.8% stakes owned by Boehly and Walter. Wyss, 90, also owns 12.8% but will increase his stake as an investment in a new partnership with Clearlake, which owns 61.5%.

Boehly and Eghbali have not always seen eye to eye on issues such as the stadium, with the club yet to determine whether to redevelop Stamford Bridge, a complex project that would involve moving out for six or seven years, or build a new ground at an alternative location, such as Earl’s Court.

“In terms of injuries and in terms of the squad we are having the last training session tomorrow so no-one is ruled out for us for Friday.

“So I prefer to be cautious and we will wait until tomorrow to take the final decision on every player. We will see tomorrow if Joao is ready to play, it’s a possibility.

“For Reece, it was just a decision for Tuesday and we see his development and tomorrow we will decide.

“Moises Caicedo is getting closer and tomorrow we will take the final decision on the team and on the squad that is coming to Brentford.

“Tomorrow is the final decision [when asked about Marco Palestra and Jordan Henderson’s fitness].

“Sorry to repeat myself, but before the players know we need to assess all the positions with the last training and tomorrow we will make the decision for the game in Brentford.“

🤔 On what Alonso is looking for from his defence on Friday:

“The defence is all the team, it’s not just the back four or the back five or whatever. It’s about the team, it’s how we compete, how we adapt to the different moments when we take the lead or when the game is even. We need to have the same mentality to be competing in different moments.”

🧠 On whether Alonso has worked with his squad this week to try and combat Brentford’s fast transitions, set pieces & long throws:

“Yes, they do that very well, but not just that. They do other things.

“I think that it is a club that they have developed their project and their game very well. They are very complete in many aspects with the ball, without the ball. So you see the numbers and it is great. They have great strength playing at home, so it is going to be a big challenge.

“I saw the game from last year, so you learn from everything and tomorrow it is going to be a big test for us.”
