🗣️ Calum McFarlane on Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to @Manchester_City [N] in the Emirates FA Cup final:
🤝 “I thought it was an evenly matched game. Both teams had moments of control. Both teams had momentum at different times. Two really good sides.
“I’ve got a lot of respect for Manchester City and what they’ve done over the last period of success. So congratulations to them first. A disappointing result, but a very evenly matched game.
“I felt we went toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in the world and I thought there was very little between the sides, in those sort of games between two really good sides.
“I thought we had momentum at the end of the first half, I thought we had momentum at the start of the second half. If you get that moment of quality and you get yourself in front, it makes the game very different, and we didn’t manage to do that.
“We know what this team’s capable of. They need to produce that on a more consistent basis. They’ve shown this year that when they’re at their best, they’re a very difficult side to play against.
“It’s a really talented group, there’s lots of quality in that group. The fight and heart has been questioned at times, but the last two performances, I don’t think you can question that. I think they gave everything today to try and win that trophy for the club.”

🚨 𝗡𝗘𝗪: During conversations with Xabi Alonso, Chelsea realized that he has AURA, personality and character which means he can be more than just a head coach.
That's why Chelsea gave him the title 'manager' instead of head coach.

🗣️ Calum McFarlane ahead of @Tottenhm Hotspur [H] in the Premier League:
🏥 On team news:
“They’re going to train this afternoon and then we’ll have a much better idea of where they are. It was a tough game on Saturday, so we’ll have to see how they’ve reported in and how they look in training before we have any final say on the squad.
“They were in yesterday. [Hopefully] It’s positive signs today when they report, and when they train, they feel good, and we’ll make a decision on that as late as we possibly can.
“We need to be careful with Levi. He’s obviously off the back of a very serious injury and has performed well in those two games. We’ll see how he looks today and we’ll make a decision on that.
“We’re really, really excited about Levi and he’s added a lot to the team, not just on the pitch, but off the pitch as well. It’s been a brilliant two games for him, and hopefully, he can finish the season strongly.
“Romeo [Lavia] took a slight knock in the build-up to the game [against @Manchester_City].
“Nothing major, but with Romeo, we didn’t want to take that risk. I thought he was brilliant in the games that he did play, but we just have to be careful with players that have had that injury history.”
🤔 On why Benoit Badiashile and Mamadou Sarr have not been in several matchday squads:
“They didn’t make the squad. They’re training really well, training really hard. We can use them in the next two games, potentially, but we’ve got a lot of players in those positions, so you want to make sure you’ve got the right balance on your bench, but nothing to report with those two.”
🛠️ On whether the players understand the Chelsea - Spurs rivalry:
“Their heart and desire have been questioned in the last few weeks. I think they’ve shown in the last few games that for me that’s not an issue. Everyone knows the rivalry between Chelsea and Tottenham, but ultimately both teams have got a lot to play for.
“I don’t think we’re going to have to do anything extra, especially with the motivation. We want to be getting six points from our next two games.”
