STARTING XI:
Sanchez - 6: Pulled off 4 good saves and put in a decent shift on his first outing with the helmet. Little he could have done about the goal conceded.
Gusto - 4: Struggled badly against Doku. Crossing was poor throughout. Lost the ball cheaply late on when the situation called for pushing forward in search of the draw.
Fofana - 5: Missed a header towards goal. Otherwise relatively steady.
Colwill - 6: Impressive on the ball, breaking lines with his passing. Could perhaps have done more for the goal, though it must be said it was a brilliant goal from Semenyo.
Hato - 5: Caught napping a couple of times defensively, but the only defender willing to carry the ball forward and progress play.
Cucurella - 4.5: Got his decision-making consistently wrong. Could have done better to block Haalandβs assist for the goal.
James - 5 Not at his usual level, giving the ball away in dangerous areas. Did, however, register a key pass and win half his duels.
Caicedo - 6.5: Dominant in the duels. Youβd have liked to see more of an offensive contribution though.
Palmer - 5: Beat his man on a few occasions but had nothing tangible to show for the dribbles.
Fernandez - 6: A fighter, and an excellent distributor. One key pass, 100% dribble success rate, and a handful of clipped long balls to break the lines. Came close to scoring.
J.Pedro- 4: Spurned chances. Went looking for penalties rather than producing in the biggest moment.
SUBSTITUTES:
Neto - 5: Tried to take City defenders on in sprint duels but didnβt have much to offer overall.
Delap - N/A
Garnacho - N/A

π£οΈ Calum McFarlane on Chelseaβs 1-0 defeat to @Manchester_City [N] in the Emirates FA Cup final:
π€ βI thought it was an evenly matched game. Both teams had moments of control. Both teams had momentum at different times. Two really good sides.
βIβve got a lot of respect for Manchester City and what theyβve done over the last period of success. So congratulations to them first. A disappointing result, but a very evenly matched game.
βI felt we went toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in the world and I thought there was very little between the sides, in those sort of games between two really good sides.
βI thought we had momentum at the end of the first half, I thought we had momentum at the start of the second half. If you get that moment of quality and you get yourself in front, it makes the game very different, and we didnβt manage to do that.
βWe know what this teamβs capable of. They need to produce that on a more consistent basis. Theyβve shown this year that when theyβre at their best, theyβre a very difficult side to play against.
βItβs a really talented group, thereβs lots of quality in that group. The fight and heart has been questioned at times, but the last two performances, I donβt think you can question that. I think they gave everything today to try and win that trophy for the club.β
