π€ βOur performance up to the third goal was very good, but it canβt be spoken about now because of the end result.
βItβs a very disappointing result on an evening where for much of the game I was pretty happy with our performance. The last 15, 20 minutes were crazy. At the top level itβs fine margins.
βMistakes happen and we have to stay calm in the moment, me included. We didnβt and we were punished by a very good team. The scoreline is a painful one because for 75 minutes we were well in the tie and the game itself.β

βEven at 4-2, itβs not the best result at all but weβre still right in this back home at Stamford Bridge. So the fifth goal was the most painful one.
βWe didnβt settle ourselves down, we donβt deal with a basic pattern of play, they score a fifth goal and make the tie very difficult for us. We have shot ourselves in the foot and made this tie very difficult but not impossible to come back from.β

βDisciplinary proceedings have been instigated against Chelsea player Pedro Lomba Neto for unsporting behaviour in accordance with Article 15(1)(a)(v) of UEFA Disciplinary Regulations.
βUEFAβs disciplinary bodies will take a decision on this case in due course.β
Neto has been penalised after he pushed the Paris Saint-German ball boy in Chelseaβs 5-2 defeat in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg.

Reece James commits future to Chelsea by signing new 6yr contract. 26yoβs previous deal 2028; fresh agreement runs until June 2032. Deal aligns England right-back with CFC incentivised wage structure.
James will spend what should be the peak period of his career at Stamford Bridge, having joined the club at the age of 6. The bond between James and Chelsea always made it likely that the relationship would continue, with talks concluded quickly over recent weeks. It also means those widely viewed as Chelseaβs core men are all secured.
In the past, James has indicated he would be βhappyβ to spend the entirety of his on-field days with Chelsea and that looks possible. The announcement he is staying will be welcomed by everyone in the dressing room, although it will surely prompt others to try to renegotiate as well.
James has grown in stature as the leader of the side and Chelsea see him as an important figurehead to have around the building as well as on the pitch, to help inspire the players already there and ones to come.
