🗣️ Liam Rosenior on Chelsea’s 4-1 win over @Aston_Villa [A] in the Premier League:
😊 “I was very proud of them today.
“We spoke about responding positively before the game. We had to end the game because, first and foremost, the first attack they scored from a fantastic finish.
“I don’t understand how we don’t get a penalty. The fact that we’ve won 4-1 doesn’t change that. It’s a clear penalty on Reece [James].
“The maturity of the team, the quality that we played with, it can be better, for sure. But in terms of the spirit and what you want to see in a team, I was really, really pleased with that tonight.”
⚽️ 𝐎𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐚𝐨 𝐏𝐞𝐝𝐫𝐨, 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐡𝐚𝐭-𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤:
“He’s a top player.
“I think he’s growing in confidence. His hold-up play, the energy he puts into the team in terms of his press, his movement.
“His goal with the left foot is world-class, the finish is magnificent, but actually I’m really delighted with his two tap-ins that he got. He was in the right place at the right time, we’ve worked hard with him on that.
“He gets the hat-trick, but it’s really hard to single someone out because I felt it was an outstanding team performance. Going through the back line and midfield – Moi [Caicedo], Enzo [Fernandez], Romeo [Lavia] when he came on, [Alejandro] Garnacho – I just felt it was an outstanding team performance.
👏 𝐎𝐧 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐨’𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞:
“That’s what usually happens when you’re professional and you do everything right on the training pitch.
“He’s really impressed me in the last few weeks and he’s impressed me the most when he’s been out of the team, because his reaction to being out of the team, his professionalism, the intensity that he’s trained at, it’s no coincidence that he’s gone and performed like that today.
“That’s the most pleasing thing for me because he deserved that today. He should have got a goal but he was in the right position and I loved how unselfish he was to set up the goal for Joao.”

Chelsea, @Arsenal_london and @ManchesterUnited are in a summer battle over England under-19 centre-back Samuel Amissah when his contract runs out at Fulham in three months’ time.
Amissah, 18, has broken into the first-team squad at Craven Cottage and has been named on the bench seven times this season by Marco Silva.
Fulham are aware of European clubs being interested in their talent, with Ajax, Juventus and Marseille watching his under-21 games and performances on England duty.
Amissah can also play defensive midfield or full-back.

🗣️ Liam Rosenior ahead of Wrexham [A] in the FA Cup fifth round:
🏥 𝐎𝐧 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬:
“Estevao is back on the pitch, but he is not quite ready for this one.
“He just needs to clear a few more markers first, and we need to be careful with him given he’s had a hamstring injury. It will be a big boost to have him back with the group.
“Elsewhere, Jamie Gittens is getting really close [to a return] and he had a really positive scan. We hope that he can be back with the group within the next seven days or so.
“Romeo Lavia is doing very well and he’s ready to go [from the start]. I’m delighted for him and he will definitely play a part tomorrow [vs Wrexham].
“He will play a big part for the rest of the season and his attributes will help us. He’s been itching to play but we’ve tried to build him up in the best possible way. But yes, delighted to have Romeo back with us because he’s an outstanding player.”
🔴⚪ 𝐎𝐧 𝐖𝐫𝐞𝐱𝐡𝐚𝐦:
“I think Phil [Parkinson] has done an incredible job, the way he’s managed the team and the position they’re in the league as well now. We know it’s going to be a really, really difficult game. It’s a club that’s on the rise and there’s a good energy and a good vibe around. It’s hard to play against that. We take the game really seriously. For us, it’s an opportunity to win a trophy.
“We understand we’re the favourites to win the game, rightfully so, and we need to go and play like that tomorrow evening.”

🗣️ Liam Rosenior on which Chelsea Academy duo will be in the squad for Wrexham [A] in the FA Cup fifth round:
👏 “Ryan [Kavuma-McQueen] and Jesse [Derry] will travel with the group, so they will be part of the squad for Wrexham.
“I’m very fortunate to have Calum [McFarlane] in our staff, who has an unbelievable understanding of the Academy, the players that are coming through. I want to develop players from within this Academy as well, so they’ll be travelling with us.
“Jesse’s really impressed me, Ryan’s impressed, but it’s not just those two. There have been a few that I’ve got to see in training when they’ve been brought up that I’m really happy with.
“Reggie Watson has trained with us a few times, he’s really impressed me. It’s scary the age that he is. Young Mahdi [Nicoll-Jazuli] has been up a few times, he’s an outstanding talent as well.
“There are some outstanding young players in the group. We just need to make sure we put them in at the right time and they get the experiences that they need to continue their development.
👁️ On keeping a close eye on the Academy:
“I was at the FA Youth Cup game [against Manchester City], I’ve seen a few of the Under-21s games, watched a lot of clips with Calum from his time before me with the group as well, to get to know the young players.
“There’s nothing better than giving a young player who has come through the Academy their debut, or seeing them grow. Look at Reece [James] now, or Trevoh Chalobah, and what this club means to them.
“That should always be in your thinking, to want to develop, and this is an outstanding Academy that has produced so many incredible players through the years. We want to continue that and make sure the pathway for those players is there.”
🤝 On the senior players going to Academy matches:
“The players decided to do it (go to Academy games), which is great, because I don’t need to encourage it. They take a real interest in football.
“They’re a great group, they want to help the young players come through because they know they were young players themselves.”
