๐ฃ๏ธ Liam Rosenior on Chelseaโs 2-1 defeat to Arsenal [A] in the Premier League:
๐ค โI think itโs clear where our strengths are and what we need to improve on.
โWe conceded two goals from set-plays, which has ultimately cost us the game, and itโs really disappointing to have another red card.
โThese are things weโve spoken about, because there is a lot of good [in our play], but I donโt want to be sat her talking about how well weโve played every week without picking up points.
โItโs [the red card] is disappointing for Pedro [Neto] because heโs a very, very good player and you want him on the pitch. Until that moment, he was actually causing Arsenal problems. The frustrating thing for us is that itโs not just today, but weโre going to miss him against Aston Villa.
โItโs not just Pedro, though. As a group, and me as the leader, we have to take more accountability for some of the decision-making in terms of our discipline. And the goals that weโre conceding, not just today, some of them are not acceptable at this level.โ

โItโs a focus and concentration thing that we need to get right.
โWe had ten games from when I came in where we didnโt have these issues, but now weโve had two [red cards in two games, so there is something deep lying that we need to get to the bottom of.
โThe thing is for me, if we can get to the bottom of those two main things, we can be a very, very good team and achieve all the things we want to achieve.โ

๐ฃ๏ธ Liam Rosenior ahead of Aston Villa [A] in the Premier League:
๐ฅ On team news:
โ[Marc] Cucurella is looking really good, and hopefully we can get him back involved if not on Wednesday, then on Saturday [vs Wrexham].
โThat is great for us with the schedule that we have coming up.
โEstevao is back on the pitch running, which is great and heโs doing really well.
โIt was brilliant to have Romeo [Lavia] get his first minutes in a long time [on Sunday]. I felt he looked really strong [against Arsenal].
โI think he is close to starting. We have managed him in a different way in terms of rehab, and hopefully, now that he is back fit, he stays fit.โ
๐ฃ On Villa, who have scored more goals from shots outside of the box than anyone else in the Premier League:
โIn terms of preparing for Aston Villa, the reason they score great goals is because they have great attacking players. We show individual clips to our players. Our players know the strengths and weaknesses of each individual weโre up against.
โItโs going to be a very difficult game. Theyโre very clinical in terms of the xG that they create, in terms of the values of the goals that they score. Theyโre a good team. Itโs going to be tough because theyโre going to have a reaction from their last result. We have to make sure weโre prepared for a very difficult game.โ
๐ค On defending set plays and whether Rosenior is involved in how his side sets up at corners:
โI am now.
โEvery manager has a different idea about the way you attack and defend set plays. I will always be honest. Iโve taken more responsibility in the last week because I know itโs something that needs to improve.
โBernardo [Cueva] has proven what a fantastic set-piece coach he is in terms of our offensive output. Heโs amongst the best in the league. Itโs not just down to coaching, itโs down to mentality, focus and concentration.
โBy the manager taking control of that, hopefully, from a mentality point of view, the value of that goes up in terms of the way that we work with it.โ

Chelsea have hired the former Leeds United and Brighton & Hove Albion stopper Casper Ankergren in a temporary role which will see him reunited with first-team goalkeeping coach Ben Roberts.
The 46-year-old Dane is set to help train Robert Sanchez and Co on the grass until the end of the 2025-26 season as cover for a member of staff who is currently recovering from surgery.
Ankergren ended his playing career at Brighton in 2017 before staying on the technical staff to assist Roberts, who was in charge of the goalkeepers at the Seagulls at the time.
It was also at Brighton where Ankergren worked with Graham Potter after he replaced Chris Hughton as manager in 2019. His most recent coaching role was as a member of West Hamโs backroom staff supporting Potter. Ankergren joined the Hammers in July 2025 but Potter was sacked in the September of that year.
Ankergren also served as head of goalkeeping at Brodnby prior to that switch.

๐ฃ๏ธ Liam Rosenior on Chelsea attacker Alejandro Garnacho being the target of boos:
โIt happened at Charlton [Athletic] as well, I donโt understand. I donโt understand why it happens, maybe because heโs such a threat.
โPlaying for a club like Chelsea, that just comes with the territory. It comes for me as their coach. It comes for the players.
โYou have to rise above that and not take notice of it. Thatโs the best way for me. I donโt think you use it as fuel. Your motivation should be there anyway to perform.
โAll Garna needs to do is keep working really hard because his ability is not in question.โ
