STARTING XI:

Sanchez - 6.5: Good shot-stopping, but distribution and risk-taking needed to improve. 50% of his long balls and 72% of his passes were successful.

Gusto - 5.5: Caught out of position for Palace‘s goal.

Acheampong - 7: Mature first Premier League start for a teenager. Looked very composed on the ball.

Colwill - 7: Decent game and made important blocks.

Cucurella - 6.5: Overall a good game, but unfortunately too slow tracking back in the build-up of Palace‘s goal.

Caicedo - 7: Decent game, but needs to advance the ball a bit faster.

Fernandez - 7.5: Very involved on both ends of the pitch.

Palmer - 7: Composed finish to give us the lead, and linked- well with Sancho whilst finding some good passes. Needs to learn better how to deal with multiple players pressing him, as he unnecessarily loses the ball quite a few times, which ultimately led to Palace’s goal.

Neto - 6: Way too predictable for defenders. He provides good width and utilized his speed very well to get past defenders, but ultimately doesn’t produce much.

Sancho - 8: Superb run and assist. Ball retention and understanding with teammates is really good. Did his defensive duties well, too.

Jackson - 4: Should have scored at least one. Didn’t have a bad game in other areas but needs to be ultimately judged by how well he uses his chances.

Forget the title race, we might actually miss out on top four this season.

Performance level has dropped massively, complacency has set in. This is not the high flying Chelsea we saw few weeks ago.

“Between the first half and the second half I think we created enough chances to win the game, but going forward you need to be clinical, otherwise the game is always open, especially in this stadium.

“Any transition, any corner, brought energy for them. Unfortunately at the end we conceded but overall today I think we did enough to win.”

“In the Ipswich game, we had so many chances. Sometimes that’s football. Sometimes you create one chance and score one, sometimes you need to create 10 chances to score two.”

“The only thing we can do is try to be even more intense during the week when we prepare for the game, even if the intensity of the players is already top, but for sure it is something that we need to improve, remembering that we are one of the best teams for scoring goals at this moment.”
