Enzo Maresca on Chelseaβs 2-0 defeat to Ipswich Town [A] in the Premier League:
π€ βIt was a bit of a strange game. We created so many chances in the first half and in the first five or 10 minutes of the second half, we had two clear chances; the header from Joao [Felix] and another shot.
βThen I think the second goal killed the game a little bit. Sometimes when you create so many chances, the post, the VAR, the βkeeper saves or the defenders that block the shot, sometimes it has to go in that way.
βItβs a shame because it was another chance for us but congratulations to them because probably when you save so many shots on the line, the goalkeeper, the body, the desire from them was very high.β
π€¨ ππ§ π°π‘πππ‘ππ« ππ‘π π©π₯ππ²ππ«π¬ π°ππ«π ππ’π«ππ:
βNo, tonightβs game, I donβt think itβs physical or condition. When you play and you donβt create chances, you donβt create nothing, and you are not dangerous, then you can say we probably we struggled physically, we are not good enough, or we are not fresh.
βBut when you create so many chances, the post, the amount of chances, the VAR; I think we have so many chances in the first half. In the second half, we started in the same way. We have two clear chances and then the second goal kills the game. It is just a matter that sometimes it is not the right day for us.β

STARTING XI:
Jorgensen 5: Responsible for the soft penalty leading to the opener. Made a couple decent saves throughout.
Disasi- 2: Exposed down the right flank repeatedly. Poor distribution leading to the second goal.
Tosin - 3: Had a good block very early on to deny a goal. Was dominated 1v1 by Delap, failing to ever get close to prevent a shot or pass. Often looked weak in a challenge.
Colwill - 4: Immature yellow card again at the end. Needs to improve on his discipline. Uncharacteristically gave the ball away on multiple occasions.
Cucurella - 4: Was unable to have an effect in attack. Asked to play very high which left him out of position on defence often.
Enzo - 5.5: Combined well with Palmer often to create a majority of Chelseaβs chances. Leaves Caicedo isolated defensively in midfield often, leading to counter attacks.
Caicedo - 5: Defended alone in midfield much of the game showing great intensity to win the ball back. Was uncharacteristically loose in possession on a number of times.
Madueke - 3.5: Great intensity to recover and win the ball back on multiple occasions. Technique was lacking in the final third with multiple poor touches and crosses.
Palmer - 5.5: Hit the post on an intelligent free-kick routine. Played in a deeper play making role and created multiple opportunities which could have ended in goals. Looked out of ideas late in the game and began to turn over possession often.
FΓ©lix - 4.5: Constantly involved going forward. Denied a well taken goal by a close VAR offsides. Was not clinical enough in the final third on other occasions.
Nkunku - 2.5: Rarely involved in the attack. Wasted an open goal opportunity. Pressing lacks intensity. Needs to show more.
SUBSTITUTES:
Jackson - 4: Unable to create any significant chances.
Sancho - 4: Unable to make an impact.
Neto - N/A
Gusto - N/A
