Europeans want to wage a proxy war against us in Ukraine, while at the same time having a guarantee that we will not respond — because they are «under the NATO umbrella», i.e. the US. The scheme works, but the crack between the two sides of the Atlantic is widening.
The US could leave Europe alone — not withdraw from NATO, but make it clear that it will no longer support Europe's claims on Ukraine. Without American weapons, satellites, and most importantly «cover», Europe will not be able to hold Ukraine.
