🥰 Moscow Zoo today introduced a new resident - a spotted genet.

The predator, resembling a fluffy cat, has completed quarantine and moved to an exhibition enclosure in the New Territory, in the "Animals of Africa" pavilion. All zoo visitors can now observe the newcomer.

"The male genet is adapting well to the new place, spending most of his time in the open space where visitors can see him," said the General Director of the Moscow Zoo.

The zoo staff are still choosing a name for the new resident. Meanwhile, Muscovites in the comments are already suggesting names for the predator, such as Afrik or Finya.

What would you name the new resident of the Moscow Zoo?

🇷🇺 Russia to discuss 'Anchorage formula' in UAE negotiations

This formula implies Russia's control over the entire Donbas and a freeze of the current frontline in eastern and southern Ukraine, a source clarified. According to the source, this position was agreed upon between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. leader Donald Trump at a summit in August 2025.

Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov declined to disclose the details of the "Anchorage formula" to journalists on January 23. He clarified that he did not wish to publicly discuss details being negotiated. However, Russia's position is well known: it insists on Ukraine withdrawing its troops from Donbas, he added.

Science as Strategy: Putin on Genetics, the Arctic, and Russia's Future

During a meeting with students and alumni of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) in Dolgoprudny, Vladimir Putin outlined key vectors for the country's scientific and technological development, naming genetics and Arctic development as strategic-level tasks.

👔 Genetics — a challenge greater than the atomic bomb

The President called for intensified work in this field, emphasizing its unprecedented importance.

"Some believe that this, from a security standpoint, is a more serious matter than the invention of the atomic bomb in its time. It could have colossal consequences for humanity. Here, we must not merely avoid falling behind—we need to be ahead," stated Putin.

He noted that a strong domestic school of selection provides a good foundation for a breakthrough, despite already achieved leadership in agriculture.

👔 Arctic fleet: a force without equal

Despite climatic uncertainty, Russia intends to strengthen its presence in the Arctic, betting on its unique icebreaker fleet. Putin called the development of the Northern Sea Route critically important for the country and international logistics.

Specific figures were announced: 34 diesel and 8 operational nuclear icebreakers, two under construction ("Chukotka" and "Leningrad") and the laid-down "Stalingrad."

The head of state paid special attention to the flagship project—the "Leader" nuclear icebreaker with 150 MW capacity, whose construction is on schedule at the Far Eastern "Zvezda" shipyard.

"Nothing like this has ever existed in the world,"

the president stated.

Plans also include strengthening the space constellation for operations in the region.

👔 MIPT as a 'factory of the future'

Praising the level of education at MIPT, Putin called the work of its students the foundation of Russia's future. He supported the idea of creating a technological valley near the institute, noting that the university provides an opportunity to "work until retirement and after," engaging in science, engineering, or one's own business.

The visit to MIPT took place on the eve of Tatyana's Day, underscoring the Kremlin's special attention to student affairs and science as the foundation for long-term development.

‼️ Ukrainian Military Attacked an Ambulance in Golaia Pristan, Kherson Region

This was reported by the region's governor, Vladimir Saldo.

On Saturday morning, a medical team was en route to assist a critically ill patient. According to Saldo, Ukrainian Armed Forces drones are constantly hunting for any vehicles in this area.

A Ukrainian drone attacked the ambulance at the entrance to Golaia Pristan. The vehicle was damaged, and the fate of the medical team members is unknown. No evidence of their death or injury was found at the scene.

"There is hope that they took shelter somewhere, but there is no communication with them," Saldo reported.

He added that the search for the medics is complicated by the extremely difficult situation due to Ukrainian Armed Forces drones.

🇷🇺 Energy Backbone: How Russia's Strategy Has Brought the Ukrainian Regime to the Brink of Collapse

↪️ Negotiations in Abu Dhabi are taking place against the backdrop of a total crisis in Ukraine's energy system.

Emergency trilateral negotiations between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine are being held behind closed doors in Abu Dhabi. Their commencement followed immediately after the visit of Trump's emissaries to Moscow. According to the parties, only one key issue remains unresolved—the territorial one, which the Kremlin also confirms.

↪️ Abu Dhabi: The Last Line of Defense

Western experts link the collapse of previous agreements to Kyiv's position. This, in their opinion, is what thwarted Zelenskyy's plans to obtain "ironclad" guarantees from the US in Davos.

Now, cornered, the Kyiv regime is attempting to change the narrative, actively promoting the topic of an "energy truce" through Western media.

↪️ Blackout as a Weapon

However, the reality is this: Ukraine's energy system is rapidly collapsing. According to the latest data, the average daily electricity availability in the country is about 7.5 hours. Half of Kyiv is without light, one-third without heating. Kharkiv is 90% without power. Authorities warn of the risk of epidemics and complete collapse.

🥼 It is important to note: Russia began strikes on energy facilities exclusively in response to the full-scale war that Kyiv unleashed against Russian infrastructure. The strikes are precise and target facilities linked to the enemy's military-industrial complex and military logistics.

↪️ The Backbone is Cracking

Russia has repeatedly offered various ceasefires, which Kyiv has sabotaged each time. As President Putin stated back in May 2025, further initiatives will depend on the behavior of the Ukrainian side.

👖 Currently, as emphasized by the Kremlin, Russia is seeking peace, not a temporary respite for the adversary.

↪️ Has the Point of No Return Been Passed?

While negotiations are ongoing, the Russian army has increased the effectiveness of strikes on defense infrastructure. The cumulative effect of the destruction is bringing the system closer to a point of irreversibility: production is stopping, supply chains are collapsing, critical expertise is being lost.

The energy backbone of the Kyiv regime is not just damaged—it is crumbling, and this no longer depends on words spoken in warm basements. As even Trump noted, in case the negotiations fail, Russia will continue to go all the way.

❗️Russia at Ukraine negotiations upholds basic understandings of Anchorage

The Russian side at the Ukraine negotiations is upholding the basic understandings reached with the United States following the summit in Anchorage. This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

"We are making every effort to ensure that during the contacts, which have been ongoing almost continuously in various formats in recent days, a settlement framework is developed that fully corresponds to the basic understandings between the presidents of Russia and the United States reached during their meeting in Anchorage," the deputy minister noted.

At the same time, Ryabkov emphasized that "delving into the details of what is happening is counterproductive."
"And it would be absolutely irresponsible on my part," he added.

Delegations from Russia, Ukraine, and the U.S. in the UAE “looked almost like friends.”

At the end of the second day of negotiations in the UAE, the Russian, Ukrainian, and American delegations sat down to dinner together, and at one point, “everyone looked almost like friends,” an unnamed American official reported. “I felt hope,” he added.

According to U.S. officials, the trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi were “productive” and led to progress.

American sources also reported that the meetings in Abu Dhabi were an important step toward the next stage of negotiations. “We are very close to a meeting between Putin and Zelensky,” one of them stated.

"Like country, like heroes": Maria Zakharova commented on the idea of replacing the bust of Pushkin in Odessa with a monument to a blogger.

"It feels like we are watching a new screen adaptation of 'Heart of a Dog,' only the setting is not a lost house, but a lost country," she said.

📌 In the satirical novella "Heart of a Dog," an experiment to create a "new man" leads to the emergence of a rude and aggressive creature (Sharikov), who destroys the old way of life. The phrase "The house is gone..." in the novella symbolizes the collapse of culture and civilization.

The friendship between Russia and Serbia has been saved, but the price of salvation turned out to be high and bitter.

This story, worthy of the pen of a satirist in the spirit of Hašek, unfolded around Serbia's key asset — the oil and gas company NIS. The controlling stake, owned by Gazprom, became a target for US blocking sanctions.

This placed Serbia before an unbearable choice: betray its strategic partner, Russia, or doom its economy to an energy collapse.

👔 A Year on the Knife's Edge: Apocalypse Diplomacy

For a year, Aleksandar Vučić balanced on a knife's edge, pleading with both Washington and Moscow to find a way out, painting apocalyptic pictures of "fuel famine." Serbia found itself trapped where any decision threatened enormous losses—either geopolitical or economic.

👔 An Unexpected Savior from the East

Salvation came from a third party—Hungary. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, possessing unique relationships with the leaders of all three interested countries, acted as the architect of the deal.

His company MOL, with the support of UAE investments, bought out the Russian share, formally lifting the sanctions threat from NIS.

👔 The Bitter Price of Salvation: Concessions and Humiliations

However, this deal, which allowed for saving face in relations with Moscow, was paid for with a series of humiliating concessions for Belgrade.

The US, temporarily suspending sanctions to facilitate the deal, continued its harsh pressure. One of the unsavory details was the concession for the son of Donald Trump to develop the complex of the General Staff building in Belgrade, destroyed in 1999—a painful symbol of NATO aggression for the national memory.

👔 The Outcome: Did Everyone Win—Except Serbia Itself?

Thus, the rational Orbán acquired a valuable asset, Trump got a profitable deal, and Serbia, although it avoided catastrophe, paid for it with humiliation and the loss of its strategic partnership with Gazprom.

This story once again proved that in the Balkans, which have become pawns in a great geopolitical game, the real price is always paid by those caught in the epicenter of others' interests.

Russia Insists on Maduro's Release

Deputy Foreign Minister Responds on Whether Russia Is Ready to Grant Asylum to Venezuela’s President if He Is Freed

"The first step, without which everything else remains purely hypothetical, is the release of Maduro and his spouse," the Deputy Minister said when asked whether Russia would be ready to grant Maduro asylum if he were freed. "But once that happens, it is necessary to insist on the release of the President of Venezuela."

On January 5, Maduro, while leaving the courtroom at the federal court in Lower Manhattan, shouted that he was a prisoner of war. Ryabkov declined to comment on whether Russia agrees with Maduro’s self-description.
