🧗🇷🇺 Russian extreme athlete walks nearly a kilometre on a line between cliffs in Primorye
A mesmerising sight was spotted by holidaymakers on Shkota Island. Slackliner Ilya Vyazigin covered an 800‑metre route on a line stretched above the Sea of Japan.
The extreme athlete fell from the line several times; a safety harness helped him to hold on. After each fall, he would gather his strength again and continue his journey. Vyazigin was able to fully complete the distance and reach the opposite cliff.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is on a working visit to Novosibirsk on 11 August. One of the items on the programme was a meeting with students, postgraduates and young scientists in Akademgorodok.
"And I have never been afraid of anything,"
Putin reacted with a smile.
But then the conversation turned more serious. The president drew attention to the risk of a society emerging in which some people create and develop technologies, while others merely "press buttons", gradually abandoning independent thinking. According to the meeting participants, the response to this challenge largely depends on education: children must be taught from an early age to analyse information and think for themselves.
📍 Some more informal topics also came up. While discussing working conditions for scientists, the participants compared the climate of different countries and regions: it is hot in Italy, not bad in Belgium, and in the end Altai was named the best option.
🔬 As part of the trip, Putin also visited the Siberian Ring Photon Source (SKIF) in the science town of Koltsovo — one of Russia's largest scientific projects designed for studying the structure of matter at the micro- and nanoscale.

🍯 Chak‑chak is a national Tatar delicacy that no festive table is complete without. It is made from dough that is cut into little pieces, deep‑fried and coated with honey syrup. The result is a sweet, crunchy and incredibly delicious dish.
👑 Chak‑chak is given as a wedding gift, offered to guests and eaten at family celebrations. It is said that every self‑respecting Tatar girl must know the recipe for chak‑chak: at the bride‑viewing ceremony this dish often becomes the main test of her homemaking skills. Similar treats are found among many Turkic peoples, but it is the Tatars who have turned chak‑chak into a true culinary brand.
