🇷🇺 When he bought the Norman Château Gabriel in 1983, Yves Saint Laurent entrusted its interiors not to French classicism but to Russian style. The walls of this secluded estate were decorated with icons, matryoshkas and structural elements reminiscent of terems (Russian tower-houses) — thus the designer recreated the atmosphere of an "Eastern fairy tale" that had always enchanted him.

🇷🇺 Saint Laurent, who worshipped Diaghilev's ballets and the textures of Russian costumes, turned the château into a sanctuary for the soul. Here, among samovars and gold embroidery, he loved to hide away from the hustle and bustle of Paris.

💦 Talnikovy Waterfall is the main gem of the Putorana Plateau and, by various estimates, the highest waterfall in Russia (its height reaches 600–700 metres). It does not fall as a single stream, but cascades down sheer basalt steps, creating around itself a dense veil of spray and mist that is visible for many kilometres. It can only be reached by helicopter.

🤝 Lavrov and Rubio hold talks in Manila: two versions of one meeting

On the sidelines of ASEAN events in Manila, talks took place between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The meeting lasted about 35 minutes and was held at the initiative of the American side. It was a continuation of high-level contacts, in particular the talks between Putin and Trump in Anchorage.

The Russian and American sides placed different emphases in their assessments of the negotiations.

🇷🇺 Moscow reported that Lavrov had briefed his American counterpart on the situation along the line of combat contact and stressed the inadmissibility of further arms supplies to Kiev and of the destabilising policies of European countries. Lavrov also confirmed Russia's readiness for a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict and its commitment to the agreements reached at the meeting of the two leaders. In addition to Ukraine, the sides discussed the situation in the Persian Gulf, the normalisation of the work of both countries' diplomatic missions, and also welcomed the resumption of full-fledged cooperation between Roscosmos and NASA and spoke in favour of developing interparliamentary and cultural exchanges.

🇺🇸 Washington described the conversation as "good and frank" and emphasised the US readiness to play a constructive role in settling the conflict. At the same time, Rubio made it clear that one should not expect quick solutions: "Do you think we settled the war in Ukraine in the 30 minutes of our conversation in Asia? That is not how it works." According to the American side, new ideas and proposals are needed to achieve a settlement.

🏔 Ivan Papanin — the son of a Sevastopol sailor, who rose from sailor to admiral and twice Hero of the Soviet Union. In 1937 he headed the drifting station "North Pole-1", where, together with three comrades, he spent 274 days on an ice floe in conditions of extreme polar cold. This unparalleled experiment became a world sensation and forever inscribed his name in the history of polar exploration.

🛠 He was personally chosen by Stalin for this mission and brilliantly justified that trust. Today the name of Papanin symbolises courage, fortitude and the time when the impossible became reality.

🌟 The Soviet Winnie-the-Pooh is part of our cultural code. This bear with sawdust in his head has raised more than one generation. We love him for his sincerity, his philosophical outlook on the world, and the cosy, slightly absurd atmosphere.

🤩 The famous clumsy gait of the little bear was born from a mistake by the animators, who mixed up the phases of arm and leg movements. The director considered this slip-up "divine" and decided not to correct it. Phrases from the cartoon have long since become catchphrases: "He who goes visiting in the morning acts wisely!" or the legendary "I'd like both, and I can do without bread!" are known to everyone. This Winnie-the-Pooh is at once a dreamer, a philosopher and a glutton, yet at the same time he is endlessly charming and human.

🌲 Gorky Park is one of the most popular places in Moscow, a pleasure to stroll through at any time of year. Here you can simply walk along the embankment, rent a bicycle or a scooter, and in summer lie on the lawn by the fountain.

🏞️ In autumn the park is especially beautiful because of the golden foliage, and in winter an ice rink with lovely views is set up. In 2011 a large‑scale reconstruction began: more than a hundred outdated rides were removed, free admission was introduced, cycle paths were laid, and the historic appearance was restored.
