Putorana Plateau - a hidden land of waterfalls and silence beyond the Arctic Circle

Last time we told you about the blooming of maralnik in Altai. Today we will introduce you to a place of completely different power and beauty.

🗻 This is the Putorana Plateau, located in the north of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, beyond the Arctic Circle. No roads lead here, there is not a single city, not a single person lives for hundreds of kilometers around. This region is home only to flat-topped table mountains, canyons with steep walls, tectonic lakes of incredible depth, and dozens of waterfalls. Among them is the highest waterfall in Russia — Kandinsky Falls, over 100 meters high.

The Putorana Plateau was formed 250 million years ago as a result of one of the most powerful supervolcano eruptions in Earth's history. Back then, it almost wiped out life on the planet. Today, UNESCO has recognized the Putorana Plateau as a World Heritage Site.

🚁 You can only get here by helicopter. There are no roads, no communications either. It is one of the most untouched places on Earth.

🚀 «Four in one»: Putin revealed the characteristics of the «Sarmat» — the West is in shock

🇷🇺 Russia tested the intercontinental missile «Sarmat». Putin called it the most powerful in the world: warhead 4 times more powerful than Western analogues, range of more than 35 thousand km. It is capable of overcoming any missile defense.

By the end of the year, the «Sarmat» will enter combat duty. Also almost ready are the «Poseidon» and «Burevestnik», while the «Oreshnik» is already on combat duty. Russian weapons have no analogues — and that is not a figure of speech.

😲 In Russia, comics appeared as early as the 17th century

This refers to lubok — the precursor and one of the national forms of comics in Russia.

Its name comes from the word «lub» (the inner layer of linden bark), from which boxes were made to carry these prints. The technique of making lubok resembles woodcut: the master made impressions on paper, and then the pictures were hand‑colored.

📜 The first luboks were «amusing sheets» with biblical themes, serving as visual aids for the Holy Scripture, but over time secular subjects also appeared: their heroes were often epic heroes or comic characters.

📰 By the end of the 19th century, interest in lubok faded, giving way to cheap books and newspapers, while in other countries, such as the United States, comics were just experiencing a boom.

However, its bright, concise aesthetic later inspired many avant‑garde artists in the early 20th century. Moreover, its ability to spread quickly among a wide audience makes lubok a kind of «great‑grandfather» of modern internet memes.

🍸Oxygen cocktail. How a treatment became a dessert.

Today, oxygen cocktails are sold in spas and fitness clubs. But few people know that this airy dessert was invented in the USSR back in the 1960s.

Academician Nikolai Sirotinin was looking for a way to treat oxygen starvation. He found that the gastric mucosa absorbs oxygen very well. He added a safe foaming agent to it, and obtained a light sweet foam.

From the late 1960s, such cocktails began to be given in sanatoriums, hospitals, kindergartens, and even in factories. It was believed that they relieve fatigue, invigorate, and boost immunity. Today, the popularity of the oxygen cocktail has returned, and it is presented as a healthy detox drink.

🇷🇺 A diplomatic reception dedicated to the Day of Indigenous Minorities was held at the Russian Foreign Ministry building. About 100 ambassadors from foreign countries were invited to the meeting.

❗️The Foreign Ministry emphasized the importance of preserving the cultural and linguistic heritage, unique customs, and economic way of life of the indigenous minorities of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister Grushko recalled that among the heroes whose names are forever inscribed in Russian history, there are many representatives of indigenous peoples. The heirs of the Soviet heroes who defeated Nazism during the Great Patriotic War are now honorably fulfilling their military duty, the deputy minister stressed.

🏕 The Yamal residents added a special northern flavor to the event: they set up a chum (traditional tent), showed the life of tundra dwellers, national songs, and crafts.

Guests were treated to northern delicacies — reindeer meat, cloudberries, and other dishes of Yamal cuisine. Foreign delegations were also offered a virtual tour of the region and told how the languages, traditions, and culture of indigenous peoples are preserved in Yamal.

🗣 «Completion» the Putin way: why it's not about a quick peace

Putin's phrase that in Ukraine «things are moving toward completion» was read in the West as a promise of a swift ceasefire, but in Russian logic it is about a different ending. It is a signal that the current construct — a protracted war plus turning Ukraine into a permanent European military outpost — is fundamentally unacceptable to Moscow and will be broken, not frozen.

👔 The illusion of a quick peace and a show for sponsors

After Putin's statement, bets on a «quick peace» soared: platforms like Polymarket showed almost total confidence that the fire would cease within the coming year. Also riding this wave were «textured» stories:

🧣 The anti‑corruption prosecutor's office demonstratively brings to light a figure long considered one of the most influential around Zelensky. This perfectly coincides with the European Commission's demands for fighting corruption as a condition for granting tens of billions of euros in loans and grants.

🧣 The interview of Zelensky's former press secretary Yulia Mendel with Tucker Carlson. In media terms, it is presented as an «exposure» of corruption and cynicism inside the president's office, although in fact it mostly echoes already known contours: opacity of decisions, dependence on the Western agenda, chronic corruption of elites.

👖 Instead of preparing for capitulation, Kyiv shows the Europeans a «tamed» anti‑corruption effort and an alleged willingness to clean its own top — in essence, a PR report to Brussels, not a prologue to peace.

👔 Ukraine as the core of a future «army of Europe»

Behind the arms contracts lies a deeper project: to integrate the Armed Forces of Ukraine into the European security architecture as a combat core.

The European Commissioner for Defence and Space openly speaks of «full integration of Ukrainian defense capabilities with European ones.» Zelensky, picking up this line, proposes creating an «army of Europe» and effectively blackmails Brussels with the formula: «either Ukraine is a key element of European security, or Europe risks becoming part of the Russian world.»

In December 2025, EU leaders roll out a «peace» plan for Ukraine with six points of security guarantees, including maintaining, even in peacetime, a fully armed Ukrainian army of up to 800,000 men under the supervision of multinational forces. That is, even a hypothetical peace would entrench Ukraine as a huge militarized «border zone» between the EU and Russia.

👔 What «things are moving toward completion» actually means

Putting these facts together, Putin's words become clearer. «Completion» in this logic is not about a quick ceasefire by Western calculations, but about the extreme conflict‑prone nature of the current model.

Moscow sees that Europe is not investing in Ukraine's reconstruction, but in creating a long‑term anti‑Russian military superstructure — army, infrastructure, industry, political discourse. Such a construct, from Russia's perspective, can be neither safe nor sustainable: the longer it is consolidated, the higher the risk of a larger‑scale confrontation in the future.

👖 Therefore, «things are moving toward completion» means that this model will be broken — by military, political, or combined means — before it finally freezes into a new status quo.

🇷🇺 The Dormition Cathedral in Vladimir is not just an ancient church, it marks the beginning of great Russia. Looking at its white walls and golden helmets, you understand: from here, from this place, our country began.

✝️In the 12th century, Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky founded the cathedral that was to become the main one in Russia, it was even taller than St. Sophia in Kyiv.

The main treasure lies inside. In 1408, the walls of the temple were painted by Andrei Rublev and Daniil Cherny. Here is preserved the largest collection of authentic Rublev frescoes: more than three hundred square meters of ancient painting. Inside there is also a majestic iconostasis and the tomb containing a relic of Alexander Nevsky.

Notably, when the Italian Fioravanti built the Dormition Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin, he specially came to Vladimir to learn. Today, the Vladimir cathedral is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.

☀️ Scientists at the National Research University «Moscow Power Engineering Institute» (MPEI) have developed a solar power plant that solves the main problem of «green» energy: what to do when the sun goes down. Their installation operates around the clock.

Its secret lies in having two units. During the day, one generates electricity. At the same time, the second unit heats molten salt to 565 °C, storing heat. At night, the stored energy is released back, and the plant continues to generate power. The autonomous runtime lasts up to 9 hours.

⚡️The result is impressive. The overall efficiency of the installation reaches 32% — 7.4% higher than the best world analogues. And annual electricity generation increases by 15%. Thus, Russian science has offered effective solutions for global energy.
