Exciting news! 💫

New Cardano node, explorer backend, and web API released.

Today marks the culmination of considerable effort by the Cardano team: the release of a new Cardano Haskell implementation, since its mainnet was launched in September of 2017!

This update is in preparation for the upcoming releases for Shelley (decentralization), then Goguen (Smartcontract layer), and open the door to 3rd-party developers and enterprise adoption.

Not only is this a massive milestone for the Cardano project, but also the wider blockchain and crypto-space.

💁‍♂️ Cardano tip bot available! Have you ever felt the need to reward someone for what they wrote? Thanks to @oldcryptogeek from https://keybase.io/team/kodexdata, this is now possible.
They built a Telegram tip bot on Cardano, which is in its early stages, but already a blast to use. The bot is running on the Incentivized Testnet. You will need some test-ada to use it.

On February 13th Charles Hoskinson gave an update on recent developments with Cardano. This included a wide ranging discussion of future plans and recent information releases.

Brief Summary:

-Charles Hoskinson recently returned from the Satoshi Roundtable and Suits and Spooks. Both events confirmed that there is a heightened interest in the cryptocurrency space as crypto winter comes to an end.

-IOHK has recently completed its most significant software update since the Byron launch

-The OBFT hard fork is still set for release on February 20th.

-The ITN will receive a large update at the end of the week. Between this week’s update and next week’s update a good deal of the challenges with the ITN should be solved.

-The performance results from simulations of Ouroboros Hydra look very promising and the paper will be released soon.

Charles Hoskinson Surprise AMA - 16/02/2020

On Sunday February 16th 2020, Charles Hoskinson sat down for a surprise AMA. There he discussed the importance of the OBFT hard fork as well as the Byron reboot. He also spoke about the recent donation of ada that IOHK made to the University of Wyoming. Hyperlinks to AMA questions are listed below.

Quick Summary:

-The OBFT hard fork will be initialized in under the next five days, pending the clearance of the update proposal which was made on the 15th of February.

-After the completion of the OBFT hard fork, the Byron reboot will be shipped to the end user, this will occur in March.

-The Haskell testnet will occur as two testnets, the first will be the migration testnet which will allow stake pools from the ITN to migrate to the Haskell side. The second, will be the balance check testnet.

-IOHK recently made a donation of ada to the University of Wyoming to begin a blockchain laboratory and curriculum. The focus of this lab will be developing hardware and training programmers in Plutus.

-Identity, metadata, oracles, multi-assets, and rich smart contracts are all being explored for Goguen.
