If I were perfect and if I had perfect knowledge I would not need to continue to study. For many years I have avoided people and that was a used mistake. Whilst this made certain aspects of how I lived easier and allowed me to ignore the differences I have from being autistic it also didn’t allow me to grow or to understand people socially in anyway. I get ticked off still when people say things that they don’t think through that have set 100 times at least and people should understand choose not to. It should be more patient but I’m not. That is not an excuse, but we’ll work on ourselves if we want to improve, and it takes time.
If I had my way, I would not be leading the development of bitcoin because it shouldn’t need it. The system is meant to be a protocol that does not change. I was very clear on this. So, if you don’t like it and you think that changing the protocol can be better than go off and make your own. Set up a protocol like Ethereum or litecoin that is not called bitcoin and does not use the bitcoin database and compete fairly.
By the end of next year, I will have eighteen postgraduate degrees completed if everything goes well. But this does not mean I know everything. Further, even doing a doctorate does not mean that you know all a particular topic it means you know a very specialised area very well. So, for as much as I know there are things that I get wrong and as I learn more, I learn more areas that I had mistaken and concluded errors in. So, over time you will find some of my views change. If they don’t then there is a problem. Any individual who refuses to change their attitude or thoughts or to update the knowledge that they hold is not learning or growing and is not able to express knowledge and in fact is a state of stasis and un-knowledge. So, there will be things I get wrong and there will be ideas that I changes I learn.
Sometimes, I may technically be right, but people will pull me up on something as if I am in error. At times I am but at other times I have merely failed in how I explain what I’m talking about and even when I’m shown to be correct the fact that you have made me address it in a different way or provide more evidence is also not a bad thing. You see, if I can learn to provide more clarity without having to go back and repeat myself or to do the same argument over that is also beneficial not only for the people and talking to but myself. We all have a dearth of time and time is the one unique scarce thing that will never be non-scarce.
Consequently, if I haven’t made myself suitably clear than it is not only your problem it is also mine and challenging me you help me become clearer.
So, when people are open to learn and understand that I am also very happy to learn and to be proven wrong when I am actually wrong or to be correctly challenged not just in the young gunslinger dick waving manner but by people who validly want to learn then we can all benefit through detailed discourse and argument.
Ironically, many people will argue that I don’t care about the environment or many other woke causes.
In such a claim they are completely in error. I care deeply about the environment, but I believe the answer can be delivered through economic incentives and growth. The Socialist argument that we need to slow down growth in society is one that leads to poverty and poverty leads to the degradation of environmental values and concerns. The best way to improve the environment is to stop the so-called carbon BS and to promote a combination of growth and education and by education I don’t just mean vocational learning but actual education which means both the science and the arts such as philosophy and history not critical studies.

It doesn’t matter that you are black or white it matters about your attitude and what you can do for the world and delivering to society can also mean building a company that hires many people. It doesn’t mean simply making money for the sake of making money but building something to deliver value. Value is obtained through the creation of capital goods not the redistribution of wealth.

So, whilst I was uncertain of many things when I launched bitcoin and I was just as uncertain in 2016 and 2017 when I started interacting with people, I continue to learn and I continue to grow.
But, I will also say that I have to thank individuals such as yourself and others that have graciously put up with what I was like as I slowly learn to engage in a far more effective and acceptable manner

At least, you’re willing to smoke a cigar every now and again. That’s my only tobacco sin and I only do it every four months or so on average but, a good several hundred dollar cigar is amazing with a good port and so many people won’t do that with me.

If you don’t like bitcoin, make your own system from scratch. You don’t get to copy the bitcoin database. You don’t get to copy the bitcoin name. If you’re that much of a loser that you can’t take my code and make a copy like the 6 to 10,000 other bloody variants, then that’s your bad luck.
And when you do, you will fail because bitcoin is not encrypted, and the simple answer is no matter what you think, and no matter what you would like, bitcoin will act within the law, and it will be regulated, and there is no way on earth to stop this at this point in time.

The system is designed to stop attacks and remain secure, and if that means implementing code changes to ensure that the protocol remains secure, so be it.
Right now, attackers want to devalue the network, and the simple answer here is they are attackers. However, Bitcoin is not designed to act outside of the law and if you want that sort of system, invent your own.

The actions of TAAL and others follow the White Paper to the letter. Miners (nodes) vote with their CPU power and express acceptance of valid blocks by working on and extending them. They reject invalid blocks by refusing to work on them.
That statement should be very clear in itself.
Taal is making such a decision. The Open BSV licence is the one that we have designed for this project, and it does not allow you to fork. It does not allow you to create your own version and engage in illegal activities. However, it is still open source. Open source does not give away all of your property rights.
There will not be any alternative forks of BSV. Such an action is a breach of copyright, and criminal cases will be taken against any exchanges, nodes, operators, and developers who choose to copy BSV and try and run it.
If you want to argue that you want bitcoin to be different, I don’t care. It isn’t and it isn’t going to be.
I listened to a bunch of assholes who spent most of their time cheating on my idea and telling me how wrong I was in 2009, 2010 and then watched all of the shit from 2011 to 2014 and frankly, I don’t care if you want to keep doing it because I’m not going to put up with it this time.
What I have learnt through all this is unless you come up with something rational and valid and not just tell me it won’t work, you are a completely useless asshole who was wasting my time.

For the next ten years and the way things are possibly twenty, I’m going to have to spend money building a more robust system that scales because nobody else will do it. Don’t get me wrong; there are other people in nChain and other associated companies. I am completely utterly in total gratitude towards all the effort those people put in but to be honest, like most people, I would prefer not to have to work 60 to 80 hours a week on top of the other things I do. I would prefer to have all of this out of the way and have other people just run with my protocol and build it as I originally envisioned. Still, I have learned that that is not an option, and I don’t get to slow down or have a break or have a sabbatical or have a holiday of any length because that’s not how the world works.
So, I don’t work to have everyone as my friend. Some of you are, but that does not change my goals or drive towards completing bitcoin. Completing bitcoin means seeing it run as it was initially intended.
If people decide that they’re not my friend because of that, they were never my friend. If people decide that they don’t like me because of that, I don’t care.
I do care that all of this will put many of the goals and projects that I want to work on, on hold for quite some time.
I care that there are projects concerning the education of people who have a lot of talent who have no money that will not be able to be started for quite some time. I care that some of the uses of money that I have will have to wait because it will have to go into building bitcoin is a stronger more stable system and not into my side objectives concerning education and development.
Whilst I see the education of talented individuals who live in poverty as one of the most pressing and critical problems that need to be addressed in this world today, the money that I have been given all comes from bitcoin and unlike many in this industry, I realise that money comes with obligations.
None of that will get spent doing side projects until the main projects are finished. So none of it will give myself or my family a lavish lifestyle more than I would earn just being in the position I am, which is significant but not as grand as it would be if I were going to spend like most of the people in this industry.
And even when I finally managed to get this damn protocol working in a way that doesn’t need me, if that ever occurs, but I won’t be just splurging like many other people I will invest the money in building more not to create more money but to create more capital in the world for more people. And, if you think that’s wrong or you think that I should live differently, I really don’t care.
