❗️🇮🇷/🇨🇳 Chinese Defense Ministry:

‘Chinese ships continue to move in and out of the waters of the Strait of Hormuz. We have trade and energy agreements with Iran, which we will respect and abide by.

We expect others not to interfere in our affairs. Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz, and has opened it to us.’

📢 🇸🇬 🇮🇷 Singapore’s Foreign Minister on why he cannot accept negotiating with Iran for safe passage of ships.

“You may be wondering why I’m taking such a legal and strict definition, and it’s not because I’m particularly obsessed with law, but because the Strait of Malacca, the Strait of Singapore, is, in fact, another critical choke point,” he said.

He pointed out that more maritime oil – crude and refined – flowed through the Straits of Malacca and Singapore than even the Strait of Hormuz. In terms of global container trade, more flows through the region than the Strait of Hormuz.

While the narrowest point in the Strait of Hormuz is 21 nautical miles, the narrowest point in the Strait of Singapore is less than 2 nautical miles.

📢 🛢 💵 Oil Prices Will Soon Converge to Reflect Crisis, IEA Chief Says

Oil prices don’t yet reflect the severity of the unprecedented supply crisis caused by the Iran war, but they soon will, the head of the International Energy Agency said.

About 13 million barrels a day of oil supply have been shuttered by the conflict and the near-closure of the Strait of Hormuz, IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol said at an event hosted by the Atlantic Council.

More than 80 energy facilities have been damaged during the hostilities, and a recovery could take as long as two years, he warned.
