María Corina Machado announced that she is in hiding because she fears for her life.
In a writing published this Thursday 1A in the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal, the leader expressed her concern.
"I write this from hiding, fearing for my life, my freedom and that of my compatriots under the dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro," he wrote.
"I could be captured as I write these words," Machado added in her message.
He reiterated that "Maduro did not win the Venezuelan presidential elections on Sunday" and stressed that he can "prove it."
"I have records obtained directly from more than 80% of the polling stations ," highlighted the opposition leader.
He also denounced the repression and persecution of the Maduro government against popular protests rejecting fraud.
"Repression must stop immediately to facilitate the transition to democracy ," said Machado.
"We will not rest until we are free," he concluded.
