⚖️ 🇺🇸 Justice Sotomayor: "If the president decides that his rival is a corrupt person and he orders the military...to assassinate him, is that within his official acts for which he can get immunity?"
Trump’s Lawyer: "That could well be an official act."

Trump’s Lawyer: "That could well be an official act."
– Trump v. US, oral arguments
The final words in Justice Sotomayor's dissent:
"Never in the history of our Republic has a President had reason to believe that he would be immune from criminal prosecution if he used the trappings of his office to violate the criminal law. Moving forward, however, all former Presidents will be cloaked in such immunity. If the occupant of that office misuses official power for personal gain, the criminal law that the rest of us must abide will not provide a backstop.
"With fear for our democracy, I dissent."

"The Great Replacement in Arizona"
Before the passage of the 1965 Immigration Act, the White population of Arizona had been increasing for a century.
Whites, who created the state and greened the desert, were 75% of Arizona's population by 1960, up from barely 40% in 1920.
The White population remained relatively stable even in the face of the Second Great Migration of African Americans into the North.
However, the Reagan Amnesty, the 1965 immigration act, and mass illegal immigration served to inundate the state with immigrants.
Today American Whites are just 53.4% of Arizona's population.
The Asian population has increased from zero to 8.1% since the 1970s, the Hispanic population is roughly 30.7%, and the Black population continues to grow.
These recent immigrants and their hundreds of thousands of children have, combined with internal migration, served to radically transform the Copper State.
However, a coordinated policy suite to encourage and mandate repatriation could restore Arizona's White majority and open the possibility of strengthening it yet further.

The Great Replacement in Arizona
The Copper state begins to corrode
🇲🇽 🇺🇸 Mexican Cartels reportedly armed with Javelin antitank missiles.
🔶️ David Saucedo, a security consultant, confirmed the Javelin is being used by cartels and suggested they could be revealing this information as a show of force to Mexico’s incoming president, who is to take power later this year.
🔶️ Javelins would be among the most extreme examples of the escalation in the arms race between cartels and Mexican military. Cartels’ arsenals now include belt-fed gatling guns, drone bombs and land mines, all with potential to provoke elected U.S. officials who have advocated invading Mexico.
🔶️ The police chief of the state of Aguascalientes, Porfirio Sánchez Mendoza, was flying across the capital city in his government helicopter in 2022, when the machine suddenly spiraled out of control.
🔶️ The crash was one in a string of similar accidents in Mexico in recent years. Like many, it was attributed to mechanical failures.
🔶️ But the internal forensics report tells another story, according to Saucedo, who has reviewed the internal documents. Saucedo - who has done security consulting for Mexican political candidates including for governor and senate – said the report details how an explosive projectile pierced the helicopter’s door, he said, and debris scattered in a circle inconsistent with a mechanical failure.
🔶️ The forensics point to a munition similar to a Javelin, he said, adding that, “part of the helicopter detached due to the impact.”

🇨🇺 🇺🇸 🇨🇳 Satellite imagery analysis reveals the expansion of suspected Chinese electronic eavesdropping stations in Cuba. | WSJ
— The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) identified four such stations, including a previously unreported site near the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay.
— The stations are believed to be used by China to intercept sensitive electronic communications from U.S. military bases, space-launch facilities, and military and commercial shipping.
— Four sites were identified: Bejucal, El Salao, Wajay, and Calabazar.
— The Bejucal and Calabazar sites near Havana contain large dish antennas, potentially for monitoring and communicating with satellites.
— The newest site at El Salao, still under construction, is about 70 miles from Guantanamo Bay and appears designed to hold a circularly disposed antenna array for intercepting electronic signals.

🇮🇹 🇨🇳 🇱🇾 Italian authorities seize Chinese drones bound for Libya
🔶️ Labelled as parts for wind turbines, the Wing Loong unmanned aircraft were reportedly due to be loaded on a ship bound for Benghazi in Libya and delivered to General Khalifa Haftar, the strongman running the east of the country.
🔶️ Italy intercepted the drones after a tip off from the US, which is increasingly alarmed by Haftar’s growing ties to Russia as Moscow continues pouring weapons and troops through the port of Tobruk to support its military presence in Africa.
🔶️ He was backed in his campaign by the UAE, which allegedly operated Wing Loong drones over western Libya and was accused of using one to fire a missile at a Tripoli military academy, killing 26 cadets.
🔶️ “The academy attack was a disaster for the UAE, with such loss of young life, and it stands to reason it took a step back at that point,” said Alia Brahimi, an academic with the Atlantic Council.
🔶️ “It is also likely that either they or the Chinese are training Libyans to fly the drones, meaning Haftar will have personnel to use them as he tries to buy more,” she said.
🔶️ “The plan was to sell millions of drums of crude oil to China without anyone knowing about it,” said a Canadian official at the time of arrests.
🔶️ “If oil is being used to buy drones by Haftar it means the natural resources of Libyans are being diverted to buy weapons that could then be used to kill them,” said Brahimi.

🔶️ Within the past day the RSF have seized control of Mazmoum and Wad an-Nail near the Blue Nile State border. They also crossed the Blue Nile and captured Suki and Dinder City, threatening an advance back north along the Dinder and Blue Nile Rivers, which could result in the full encirclement of Sennar City.
🔶️ Elsewhere in the state, SAF troops have put up little resistance, if any. Many SAF troops were already deployed to the frontline, closer to Al Jazira State, and the units in the rear areas were not prepared for combat. After smashing through the SAF frontline at Jebel Moya last week and winning the battle for Sinja over the weekend, the RSF advanced unchecked.
🔶️ The renegade paramilitary’s rapid advance for the first time puts them within reach of Sudan’s eastern border with Ethiopia. It also means that soon they will likely control parts of the Rahad Game Reserve and Dinder National Park, posing a risk to the wildlife which could be poached by combatants for food or sport.
🔶️ This is the first major RSF territorial gain since December 2023, when they seized most of Al Jazira State in a similarly rapid offensive. In the months that followed, the RSF perpetrated abuses throughout the state, including looting, rapes, mass arrests, attacks on medical personnel, widespread theft of cars and mobile phones, and forced recruitment.
🔶️ In terms of military geography, the RSF’s advance into Sennar creates major problems for the Sudan Armed Forces. SAF can no longer resupply or reinforce the 4th Infantry Division in Damazin, the 10th Infantry Division in Abu Jubeiha, or the 18th Infantry Division in Kosti. Effectively, vast swathes of SAF-controlled territory in south-central Sudan are cut off from the country’s east and north and its de facto capital at Port Sudan.
🔶️ Sennar lies outside of the conflict zones that were affected during the country’s previous civil wars. The last time the state was invaded was in 1899 by Anglo-Egyptian troops under the British general Herbert Kitchener, during the final stage of the Anglo-Mahdist War.

🇵🇸 🇮🇱 💥 The rubbled road in Tulkarem, Palestine is the work of IDF combat engineers—they tear up the paved roads when they go into rough West Bank areas, ostensibly to neutralize IEDs.
🔶️ To anyone with GWOT experience, this will seem very backwards—the US spent millions *paving* roads for counter-IED purposes, b/c it’s much harder to plant IEDs in paved roads than in gravel roads, let alone rubbled ones.
🔶️ By destroying these paved roads, the IDF is getting rid of one IED crop, but making it easier to plant the next—and harder to detect it.
🔶️ US forces in the most thoroughly AQI-controlled sectors of Iraq in 2005-7—Ramadi, Baquba, Dora, Ameriya—faced insurgents who, like Hamas, had the time and freedom to dig giant IEDs deep into paved urban roads.
🔶️ The US response was not widespread destruction of paved urban roads.
