🇹🇷 🇮🇶 Iraq implements security plan to secure Turkiye–Iran border region
🔶️ Turkiye is determined to eliminate its long-time Kurdish enemy to establish the Development Road project linking Iraq's southern city of Basra with the Turkish capital, Ankara
🔶️ Iraqi forces have commenced securing the 300-kilometer stretch of the 1,493-kilometer Iran–Iraq border between the Khanaqin district and the Penjwin sub-district.
🔶️ Speaking to the state-run Iraqi news agency INA, senior Iraqi Ministry of Interior official Mohammed al-Saeedi stated that the plan comprises two phases with Turkiye and six with Iran.
🔶️ He added that orders have been issued to construct approximately 27 border posts along the border lines of Iraq’s Duhok and Erbil provinces with Turkiye.
🔶️ Earlier this week, Turkiye announced its intention to employ military force against alleged arms deliveries to the PKK, including via the Sulaymaniyah airport in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region. Turkiye has accused the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) party of allowing the PKK to use the airport as a key logistical hub.
🔶️ Turkiye is intent on eliminating the PKK not only from the Iran and Turkiye border regions of Iraq but also from Sinjar, the Yazidi-majority district in western Iraq, on the Syrian border. The PKK gained a foothold in Sinjar after ISIS lost control of the region in late 2015. The Syrian side of the border is controlled by a PKK offshoot, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The US military partnered with the SDF to occupy northeast Syria beginning in 2015 as well.
🔶️ Turkiye and Iraq’s effort to dismantle the PKK also coincides with efforts to establish the proposed “Development Road” project connecting Basra in Iraq’s south with the Turkish capital, Ankara.
🔶️ The Development Road would help Turkiye cut the link between the PKK in Sinjar and the group’s offshoot in Syria and expand Ankara’s influence over Sunni and Turkoman areas of Iraq, including Mosul.

🇨🇦🗳On the Rise of Right-Wing Sentiments in Canada
A rather remarkable news has come from Canada, which is an important indicator of the political climate in the country. Yesterday, in the federal by-election in the Toronto-St. Paul's riding in Ontario, the Conservative Party candidate won for the first time in 30 years.
🔻Why is this important?
The Toronto-St. Paul's riding has been a Liberal stronghold, with the party regularly winning with a large margin since 1993. In the previous election, the Liberal candidate received almost 50% of the votes, leading the Conservatives by 25%. In the run-up to yesterday's vote, the Canadian media discussed that a decline in Liberal support in this riding would be a bad signal for Prime Minister Trudeau and his party.
As a result, after counting all the votes, it turned out that Conservative Don Sturdy managed to get 42.1% of the votes and outpaced the Liberal candidate Leslie Church, who received only 40.5%. Considering the results of the previous elections, the Conservatives not only snatched a victory from the Liberals, but crushed them.
🔻This victory well reflects the public sentiment: according to opinion polls, the Conservative Party is leading the Liberals by almost 20%, while the New Democrats have a chance to push the Liberals down to third place.
The next federal election is scheduled for October 2025. The Liberal government still has time to try to rectify the situation. However, given the public's discontent with the housing crisis, the migration crisis, and unpopular new taxes, it is hard to believe that the Liberals will be able to repeat their past successes.

The President of Serbia himself agreed with the estimates published by the publication, noting that this figure corresponds to the approximate indicators for 2-3 years. At the same time, Aleksandar Vucic said that these supplies are part of the “economic revival” of the country and they have a “great opportunity” to make money, since the weapons produced in Serbia are cheaper than Western ones.
According to Vucic, Serbia exports ammunition to the USA, Spain, the Czech Republic and other countries, and where they end up next is no longer his concern .

Currently, that position is held by the airbase at Ramstein, Germany.
The airbase will host 16 F-16s of the Romanian army + a number of allied NATO aircraft periodically rotated after 6 months, MQ-9 "Reaper" UAVs recently purchased by the Romanian MoD and once finished, a new "military city" for the American & other NATO allied troops full with every desirable facility like kindergartens, schools, drugstores, restaurants, theaters (cinemas) & more, on top of the other military facilities like a new double runway, hangars, new fuel storage facilities, new command tower & more. The capacity of the airbase will increase from the current ~2000 personnel stationed to 10.000 and the families of those deployed.
The airspace around the airbase will become the most protected in Romania and perhaps even in NATO.
