🇰🇪 🤝 🇺🇸 Kenya to get major non-NATO ally status during president’s US state visit

🔶️ Kenya will become the first sub-Saharan nation to receive the designation, which allows the recipient country to obtain more sophisticated weaponry from the United States and engage in closer security cooperation.
🇷🇺 🇨🇳 The growing bond between Washington and Nairobi comes as the Biden administration worries about China’s growing sway on the African continent, in addition to Russia’s ties with Kenya. The move comes as lawmakers prepare to vote through the controversial restrictions on civil society.
Politicians and officials in Georgia responsible for pushing through a controversial bill that would brand Western-funded NGOs and media outlets as “foreign agents” will face visa bans, the U.S. State Department confirmed Friday.
The State Department will also conduct a comprehensive review of bilateral cooperation between the U.S. and Georgia, which currently sees the country receive significant military and economic support.
In a statement, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Georgia’s new legislation, brought forward by the governing Georgian Dream party, “would stifle the exercise of freedoms of association and expression, stigmatize organizations that serve the citizens of Georgia, and impede independent media organizations.”
As a result, he said, Washington will impose travel restrictions on those “complicit in undermining democracy in Georgia,” as well as their family members and others “responsible for suppressing civil society and freedom of peaceful assembly in Georgia through a campaign of violence or intimidation.”
Blinken said the U.S. hopes “Georgia’s leaders will reconsider the draft law and take steps to move forward with their nation’s democratic and Euro-Atlantic aspirations,” adding that future actions would determine Washington’s next steps.

Being fully aware of the very strong pro-EU sentiment of the Georgian society, during my phone conversation I felt the need to call the attention of the Prime Minister on the importance not to enflame further the already fragile situation by adopting this law which could lead to further polarisation and to possible uncontrolled situations on the streets of Tbilisi. In this regard, the latest tragic event in Slovakia was made as an example and as a reference to where such high level of polarisation can lead in a society even in Europe.

- At the same time, tanks are advancing to the northeastern neighborhood of Tevat Zera, above the El Tanor neighborhood, a huge fire in the neighborhood from IDF shelling
- Heavy artillery shelling in the vicinity of the Abu Youssef al-Najjar hospital, Khairbat Elads and the Jenaina neighborhood - The IDF will occupy the city center soon
- Tanks arrive in the Abu Yusef Al-Najjar hospital area
- The IDF destroys houses in the neighborhoods of Salem, Al Janina and Al Tanur

🇺🇸🛰️ The best illustration of the militarization of space is the news about the latest US military projects in near-Earth space. Yesterday, SpaceX launched a batch of satellites for the deployed global reconnaissance group Starshield.
However, an equally interesting news is the plans of the American startup Inversion Space to create a network of "orbital warehouses". They will represent a group of spacecraft where stocks of medicines, weapons, ammunition and other military products will be stored.
On command from Earth, the satellites will "fire" cargo capsules that will enter the dense layers of the atmosphere and land at a specific point. Thus, the developers want to provide the ability to quickly supply troops anywhere in the world, especially where there are no airfields, ports and other similar infrastructure.
🔻 It is characteristic that this is not the only project of its kind in the USA - earlier another private space company Sierra Space came up with a similar initiative. However, Inversion Space plans to send a prototype for testing into orbit as early as October.
Yes, the technology is still promising, and a stage of refinement is required for full implementation. However, the very fact that there are several parallel developing projects indicates that their initiators are quite serious, and soon what used to be the plots of science fiction films may well come to life.
📌 And again, it draws attention to the fact that the engine of US space progress at the moment are private companies - from SpaceX with its reusable rockets and manned spacecraft to small startups with innovative ideas.
So it would be a good idea to thoroughly analyze this experience and make a few fundamental decisions in this direction. The time is now quite suitable.
