🇸🇪 In drag, Stockholm's vice mayor fights far-right 'intolerance'.

Jan Jonsson, a 45-year-old member of the centre-right Liberal party, is behind the campaign.

He launched it in response to the far-right Sweden Democrats' repeated criticism of drag queens hosting children's story hours at libraries and guided tours at Stockholm's Royal Dramatic Theatre.

"I'm using myself as a kind of canvas for the drag artists...to be able to say that we think everyone should be free to express themselves," he told AFP.

"Some political parties have tried to restrict the freedoms for others and especially drag queens.

"With this stance, I hope that more will be able to say, 'Okay, now it's enough. Sweden should be a free country'."

🇲🇽 Rainfall levels across Mexico reach historic lows

Mexico is experiencing historically low levels of rainfall this year, according to the National Water Commission (Conagua).

From Jan. 1 to June 11, the country recorded 20.1% less rainfall than in the same period of 2022, decreasing the level of water stored in reservoirs.

The Conagua said that the accumulated rainfall in the first half of the year was equivalent to 115.8 mm - 29.1 mm below the 20-year average.

Because of the blistering heat wave sweeping over many parts of the country and drought in some regions, Mexico’s major reservoirs reported a drop of 2.5% in water storage levels between June 5 and 11.

Of these 210 reservoirs, only three reported full storage capacity; the majority reported water storage levels below 50%.

Many private schools in Wisconsin that accept taxpayer-funded vouchers have anti-LGBTQ+ policies, often motivated by Christian beliefs and supported by state or federal laws.

Administrators of Sheboygan Lutheran High School canceled valedictorian Nat Werth's speech in 2019 after he came out as gay in a draft of the speech. Four years later, Werth said the school's handbook has expanded to include extensive anti-transgender policies.

The school’s current handbook dedicates over 1,000 words to a policy that uses Biblical teachings as the basis for its anti-transgender policies.
