Quick history lesson about the Gagauz people and Gagauzia.
The origin of the Gagauz people is unclear as there are many theories surrounding their origin but they are a Orthodox Christian Turkic people. They speak a branch of the Oghuz Turkish similar to Rumelian Turkish spoken in the European part of Turkey and some areas in Bulgaria, Kosovo and North Macedonia. For most of their history they were referred to as "Turkish speaking Bulgars". In the 19th century the Russian empire settled the Budjak region with Bulgarians and other Christians from the Ottoman Empire replacing the old settlements belonging to the Nogai tatars which were deported south into Turkey. The Gagauz were not recorded as an ethnicity different than that of Bulgarians but the Russian census of 1897 included a Turkish speaking minority in the region which very likely are the ancestors of the Gagauz.

The Gagauz people are a small ethnic minority concentrated in the autonomous territorial unit of Gagauzia in 🇲🇩 numbering 126k people. There are about 31k more Gagauz living in 🇺🇦 mainly around the city of Bolhrad where a 🇧🇬 minority also exists. Gagauz nationalism remained an intelectual movement up until the 1980s when 🇷🇴nationalism was increasing in 🇲🇩 as 🇲🇩desired union with 🇷🇴. In 1991 Gagauzia declared its independence after the August Coup. After an uneasy 3 years, 🇲🇩 president, Mircea Snegur gave in and accepted an autonomous Gagauz unit inside 🇲🇩 to which the Gagauz Soviet agreed to. In the same year, the 🇲🇩 Parliament would grant the Gagauz the right of "external self-determination" should the status of the country change meaning that if 🇲🇩 were to unite with 🇷🇴 the Gagauz could chose to become independent or join 🇷🇴.

🇵🇪 Peruvian generals arrested in corruption scandal involving Castillo
Six Peruvian generals have been arrested for their alleged involvement in a corruption ring involving former President Pedro Castillo Terrones, the country's Attorney General's Office announced.
The military officers are believed to have paid bribes in exchange for their promotion with Castillo's knowledge and authorization.
After 26 raids carried out in different cities of the country, authorities are still looking for other high-ranking former or present police officers.
The defendants are believed to have paid between US$ 20,000 to US$ 30,000 for their promotion to general during the first year of Castillo's government.

🔵 The law is called the SAFE-T Act and SAFE-T stands for Safety, Accountability, Fairness, and Equity Today and is said to be one of the first steps in marks a substantial step toward dismantling systemic racism, which plagues our communities, our state, and our nation and brings us closer to true safety, true fairness, and true justice.
🔵 In just a few days the state of Illinois will have a law they passed earlier in 2022 come to life. The new "Purge" law, better known as a no cash bail law, will lower the detention rate of Illinois jails and could put violent, dangerous, and other offenders back onto the streets.
⚡️ Starting January 1st, those who commit crimes such as Aggravated Battery, Aggravated DUI, Aggravated Fleeing, Burglary, Arson, Drug-Induced Homicide, Intimidation, Kidnapping, Robbery, 2nd-Degree Murder, and Threatening a public officer could be back amongst the public without posting bail.
🔵 Starting in January of 2023, Illinois will be the first state to institute a purge law. Slow your roll, this isn't quite like the purge in the movies, but can definitely be unsettling for those who reside in the state or visit frequently. Their law is a no cash bail law, meaning there will be no cash bail for 12 different offenses, even some violent offenses. This means these offenders will be back out in the public unless sufficient evidence is posted in 48 hours or less that proves they are a threat deserving to be locked away.
