This session is a step-by-step walkthrough of how to create a dynamic instructional video using a combination of OBS Studio + Canva. Both are FREE applications available for both Mac and PC users.

Dynamic instructional video simply means the video has several scenes that can be changed seamlessly during the presentation (recording). This will save a lot of time for post editing of the video.

*Gamifying Learning Using Genially*

Gamification is more than just a buzzword. Infusing gameplay not only makes learning more dynamic but it can also significantly increase learner engagement too. The rewards can be very satisfying and intensely motivating. Role-play and competitive elements add an immersive experience, which, if set up well, can quite simply make learning fun and impactful.

In this webinar, the speakers will share how they designed simple concepts of gamifying learning using a free application, Genially is a single platform for all kinds of interactive content.

Assalamualaikum wrt. dan selamat sejahtera,

Happy New Year.

Please spare some time to visit and browse our MOOC@USM platform where you can find *36 online courses* (MOOC - Massive Open Online Courses) available FREE for the public.

This is an initiative we started back in 2014 to support Shift 9 (Globalised Online Learning) in our Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015-2025 (Higher Education). In addition, MOOC@USM also supports SDG (Goal 4) on providing quality and inclusive education for all.

I hope 2021 will see more MOOC will be created by our academic staff. I honestly think that all PTJs should leverage MOOC for visibility and positioning of the academic programs. As you can see, we have more than *10K enrollment* from *112 countries*.

Note that MOOC is not meant for direct income generation (for this, we can go for micro-credential).

*Please take an aggresive and strategic approach to make MOOC as one of your PTJ's agenda.* Currently, only a handful of PTJ are really encouraging and facilitating their academic staff to develop MOOC.

CDAE is doing its part not only helping and facilitating the development of MOOC but also to promote using social media, etc. I hope everyone can help promoting our MOOC together through your own social media and your circle.

Assalamualaikum & Salam Sejahtera,

We have had valuable lessons from the pandemic – we scrambled to change our conventional practices and ways of doing things. We resorted to technology to help us deliver and painful as it might be but after a year, some of us are still balancing the wonders of technology and the students’ ability to connect.

This session looks at how we embrace technology in our ODL delivery and how apt is the approach we are taking, considering the students’ readiness, access to the internet, and learning environment. Basically, there are three foci in the presentation – ODL Technology, Minimalist Approach, and Meaningful Experience.

There will be a sharing of the speaker’s experience in managing a large university ODL and her own group of students. It is about taking the opportunity the pandemic has given - to relook, revise, and review our practices, to leverage on technology, and to deliver with simplicity and empathy

Humanizing Online Learning
The COVID-19 pandemic had definitely changed immensely the way we engaged with our students. We can no longer had physical interaction, but yet we need to resort to the online teaching. Yet, our students suffered from many issues when there are back home: internet availability/affordability, domestic issues, lack of motivation and so on.
There are many technology and tools that we can use out there to engage with the students during the online teaching, but the question is, how do we do this systematically and in a structured way, supported by scholarly findings? How can we engage with the students effectively with the technology and tools that we used in the most humanised way possible and how do we assess them accordingly?
In this training, the participants will learn how can we develop humanised teaching and assessment materials, conduct effective yet empathetic teaching be it asynchronous or synchronous session as well as few tips and tricks to ensure the students will be able to learn meaningfully even on online mode.

Strategies for Preparing High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) Assessments
The COVID-19 pandemic had changed the way how we teach and assess our students. We can no longer resort to closed book examination or assessment format because the integrity can be questioned. In addition, it is imperatively important to produce 21st century skilled graduates, who are able to think critically, constructively and analytically. As assessments drive how the students learn, low order thinking skills (LOTS) assessments are unable to assess well the students’ ability, and therefore HOTS assessments are much needed. In this half day workshop, the participants will be exposed to the guiding principles in teaching & learning elements, and how best we could assess the students. In addition, the participants will be collaboratively prepare a constructively aligned HOTS assessments with suitable rubrics in mind.
