1. Be the Best
Anyone going to hire you, buy from you, or do what you want them to do will wonder if youโ€™re the BEST choice.
BEST: Best for them, right now, based on what they believe and what they know
THE WORLD: Their world, the world they have access to
2 . Quitting Is Not a Failure
If you are not going to be the best, then you should just QUIT.
Quitting, in some scenarios, is actually essential for freeing up resources to get through the dips that matter.
This means you only have two options in life:
Quit or be Exceptional.
To become the best, you must understand these three curves:
3. The Cul De Sac:
1๏ธThis first curve is where you work, work, and work and workโ€ฆ but nothing changes. It doesnโ€™t get a lot better; it doesnโ€™t get a lot worseโ€ฆ it just is what it is.
Whenever you find one of these...
...you need to get off it fast.
The opportunity cost of investing your life in something that wonโ€™t get better is just too high.
4. The Cliff:
The cliff looks like something potentially promising at firstโ€ฆ but then suddenly, it drops off rapidly & you suffer.
The cliff is a situation where you donโ€™t quitโ€ฆ until you fall off the other end and everything falls apart.
5. THE DIP:
If there wasnโ€™t a Dip, thereโ€™d be no scarcity. If Itโ€™s Worth Doing, Thereโ€™s Probably a Dip. The Dip creates scarcity, and scarcity creates value.
Itโ€™s easy to Be a CEO. Whatโ€™s hard is Getting there. Thereโ€™s a huge dip along the way.
6. "Cul de sacs" & "Cliffs" Lead to Failure
If youโ€™re facing either of these curves, you must quit. Not soon, but RIGHT NOW.
"The biggest obstacle to success is our inability to quit what isnโ€™t working soon enough."
7. Quitting As Tactic VS Quitting As Strategy
Quitting is important, but weโ€™re not talking about giving up and abandoning your long-term strategy.
You do have to quit the TACTICS that arenโ€™t working.
8. The 6 Reasons why you might fail:
1๏ธโƒฃyou run out of time or money
2โƒฃyou get scared
3โƒฃyouโ€™re not serious about it
4โƒฃyou lose interest or enthusiasm and settle for mediocre
5โƒฃyou focus on the short term instead of the long term
6โƒฃyou pick the wrong thing to be best in the world
9. What The Woodpecker Knows
When faced with a dip, many people diversify to give themselves more options.
Before you think about doing something newโ€ฆ consider what would happen if you focused your efforts and managed to get through The Dip that youโ€™re already in.
10. Two Questions To Ask Before Quitting
1โƒฃAm I Panicking?
The best quitters are the ones who DECIDE IN ADVANCE when theyโ€™re going to quit. You can always quit later โ€“ so wait until youโ€™re done panicking to decide.
2โƒฃWhat Sort Of Measurable Progress Am I Making?
To succeed, to get to that light at the end of the tunnel, youโ€™ve got to make some sort of forward progress, no matter how small.
Measurable progress isnโ€™t just a raise or a promotion โ€“ it can be much more subtle than that.
In Conclusion:
There are times when winning means quitting.

1. Grief belongs to the griever

You have a supporting role, not the central role, in your friendโ€™s grief. Grief is a very personal experience and belongs entirely to the person experiencing it.

2. Stay present and state the truth

โ—๏ธYou cannot know what the future will be, for yourself or your friendโ€”it may or may not be better later.

You cannot know that your friendโ€™s loved one โ€œfinished their work hereโ€, or that they are in a โ€œbetter placeโ€.

3. Do not try to fix the unfixable

โŒDo not say anything that tries to fix the unfixable, and you will do just fine.

โœจIt is an unfathomable relief to have a friend who does not try to take the pain away.

4. This is not about you

Being with someone in pain is not easy. You will have things come upโ€”stresses, questions, anger, fear, guilt. Your feelings will likely be hurt.

๐Ÿซ‚Itโ€™s important that you be supported while you support your friend.

5. Anticipate, donโ€™t ask

Do not say, โ€œCall me if you need anything,โ€ because your friend will not call.

โœ…Instead, make concrete offers: โ€œI will be there at 4:00 p.m. Be reliable.

6. Do the recurring things

You can lessen the burden of โ€œnormalโ€ life requirements for your friend.

๐Ÿ’ž Your friend in small, ordinary waysโ€”these things are tangible evidence of love.

7. Tackle projects together

Depending on the circumstance, there may be difficult tasks that need tending. Your presence alongside them is powerful and important.

8. Love

โ™ฅ๏ธAbove all, show your love.

Be willing to not have any answers. Listen. Be there. Be present. Be a friend. Be love. Love is the thing that lasts.

9. Loss of Friendships

โ—No matter what the deeper reasons are, the loss of friends you thought would stand by you through thick and thin is an added heartbreak.
The injustice of these second losses makes grief itself that much more difficult.

2. Productivity is not about doing more, it's doing What's most important.

3. Living a life with our priorities guiding us is the key to a happy life. A life that feels well lived.

4. Overwhelm is not having too much to do. It's not knowing Where to start.

5. When people focus on being efficient, the
resource we target is time. We fail to realize that being efficient is about getting things done; being effective is getting what's important done. There's a big difference.

6. Strong systems harness the patterns of habits and make tasks happen automatically.

7. The big secret in life is that there is no big Secret. Whatever your goal is, you can get there if you're willing to work.

Top 10  Lessons learned From book-"The Dip"

1. Be the Best

๐Ÿฅ‡Anyone who is going to hire you, buy from you, or do what you want them to do is going to wonder if youโ€™re the BEST choice.

BEST: Best for them, right now, based on what they believe and what they know

2 . Quitting Is Not Failure

If you are not going to be the best, then you should just QUIT.

Quitting, in some scenarios, is actually essential for freeing up resources to get through the dips that matter.

This means you only have two options in life:

Whenever you find one of these...

The opportunity cost of investing your life in something thatโ€™s not going to get better is just too high.

4. If you're the kind of person who has no guts, you just give up every time life pushes you. If you're that kind of person, you'll live all your life playing it safe, doing the right things, saving yourself for some event that never happens. Then, you die a boring old man.

8. Why do we read? Weโ€™re not trying to ace tests or impress teachers. We are reading and studying to live and be good human beingsโ€”always and forever.

9. โ€œIn your actions, donโ€™t procrastinate. In your conversations, donโ€™t confuse. In your thoughts, donโ€™t wander. In your soul, donโ€™t be passive or aggressive. In your life, donโ€™t be all about business.โ€ โ€”MARCUS AURELIUS

10. Great teachers are usually hardest on their most promising students. When teachers see potential, they want it to be fully realized. But great teachers also know that natural ability and quick comprehension can be quite dangerous to the student if left alone. An early promise can lead to overconfidence and create bad habits. Those who pick things up quickly are notorious for skipping the basic lessons and ignoring the fundamentals.

Donโ€™t get carried away. Take it slow. Train with humility.

When you want to be creative, take a walk. When you need to get some air, take a walk. When you have a phone call to make, take a walk. When you need some exercise, take a long walk. Take a walk together when you have a meeting or a friend over. Nourish yourself and your mind and solve your problems along the way.

2. Failure is a part of life we have little choice over. Learning from failure, on the other hand, is optional. We have to choose to learn.

3. The next time you face a political dispute or a personal disagreement, ask yourself: Is there any reason to fight about this? Is arguing going to help solve anything? Would an educated or wise person really be as quarrelsome as you might initially be inclined to be?

4. How you handle even minor adversity might seem like nothing, but, in fact, it reveals everything.

5. No need to be too hard on yourself. Hold yourself to a higher standard but not an impossible one. And forgive yourself if and when you slip up.

6. โ€œIt is possible to curb your arrogance, to overcome pleasure and pain, to rise above your ambition, and to not be angry with stupid and ungrateful peopleโ€”yes, even to care for them.โ€ โ€”MARCUS AURELIUS

7. Do your job today. Whatever happens, whatever other peopleโ€™s jobs happen to
be, do yours. Be good.

How to Embrace and Just Be Yourself.

Fears, doubts and insecurities are all around us, outside and inside of us. Sometimes it may even seem easier to "just want to be someone else" as we wrap ourselves up in these negative feelings.

The grass may appear much greener on the other side based on our perceptions and ideas. Which may or may not be slanted in the right direction, based on the past or current experiences we have had. The reality is often the exact opposite and others are more afraid than we are.

What if the person you think has everything going for them looks in the mirror and hates the way they smile, or how large they think their eyes are? What if everyone else in their family has brown eyes and they are made to feel out of place for having blue ones?

If the messages they have heard from family, friends or loved ones has always been negative regarding a certain characteristic or feature, their self-esteem will have taken solid hits from that.

It's comical how others are envied for superficial beauty, wealth or relationships that people would fight to trade places with them because many of them are looking at us and thinking the same thing.

You appear as the smartest person around and they wish they had the same people or conversation skills that you do. That feeling of quiet desperation to "be someone else" results in the lack of confidence, low self-esteem and any hope that we can ever improve our situations in life.

This is a perception and not your reality. Rather than spend your life wringing your hands about who you can't be, or what you don't have in it, concentrate on finding out how to make things better for yourself.

Ask questions and find solutions to how to be a better person and to accept yourself for who you are. You can always learn new skills, ask trusted friends or advisers for areas they think you could improve in and how.

Just because that's the way "you have always been" doesn't mean that's the way you must always remain. Taking steps to self-improvement can open up new doors of experiences and opportunities for you. Then you can, in turn, inspire and motivate others.

Get rid of the regrets in your conversations with yourself and focus on being a first-class citizen in your own mind. Accept yourself for who you are, improve what and where you can and stop constantly comparing yourself to others.

All of us will always be insecure at times but that doesn't have to be a life sentence for being unhappy. Loving ourselves no matter what begins with the act of self-acceptance. Once we achieve that, contentment will follow.
