so is a burner community a local bunch of people who one has met out in the desert somewhere at one of these events, and the attendees call themselves burners and they sort of identify with the stated values of that burning man web site, and try to stay in touch afterwards locally, or i guess in between those big gatherings? and that's the "community" aspect you're talking about?

This is basically accurate and there are also close-knit local and family communities that are part of burn communities

ok. and where does the danger to safety come in?

A lot of burners talk big about being in service and being aware of others needs and including people and operating based on kindness but if burners leave vulnerable members of their communities to human traffickers then service or kindness is not really who they are or what they're doing, they are not in service, something is gone wrong

There are pathways by which burners are either aware or not aware that vulnerable members of their communities are handed off to known active human trafficking operations

When vulnerable people try to talk about this in community with the caring people they thought they were involved with, they are shut down and silenced so that trafficking operatives can pick them up.

It's easy to do this once a person is made vulnerable at certain multiple intersections.

Don't get so sick or injured that the people around you stop believing you when you tell them the truth.

If you lose your able-bodied function and can't get away, if your body is not able to perform normative movements as mainstream would expect, if you lose your financial stability and financial support from others, you are below a certain threshold of intersectional privilege.

Pathways are held open by people

Sometimes they understand the violence that results from holding open those pathways and sometimes they don't.
