According to The Block, a U.S. federal court sentenced Marlon Ferro (online name "GothFerrari"), a California man, to 78 months in prison, with a three-year supervised release, and ordered him to pay $2.5 million in restitution. Ferro was involved in a nationwide social engineering fraud scheme from late 2023 to early 2025, involving over $250 million in crypto assets, using methods including database intrusion, fraudulent phone calls, money laundering, and burglary. He twice broke into homes to steal hardware wallets and assisted in money laundering.
