Britain's Pubs (Part of Britain's Lost & Living Pub Series) [Channel 2/2]
A ghostly image of a lost street in #London. Wynch Street was roughly where #AustraliaHouse stands today on #Aldwych (City of #Westminster). To add further interest the street seems to have one or two public houses in the picture. 📸 circa 1870 https:…
Lyon's Inn, was an old Inn of Chancery, once belonging in to the Inner Temple. Faceing Newcastle Street, on its eastern side, between #WychStreet and #HolywellStreet. It was also next door to an inn known as the "Spotted Dog." Mr. Diprose, in his "Account of St. Clement Danes," tells us that this same "Spotted Dog" had been a hostelry for some 230 years at least before its demolition in 1864, for the "Strand Hotel Company,"

The street itself is long gone, the pubs are but distant memories for those long gone. 🍻https://t.me/vinniesullivan/26493
