The Anchor Pub, 1930

#SomersTown (now Chalton Street, #StPancras).

This public house was taken over by Jellicoe and Edith Neville upon which it became a โ€˜reformed pubโ€™ where punters could buy food as well as drink. Its very first customers were the Archbishop of #Canterbury and the Prince of #Wales.

Their roaring laughter & wonderful spirit are such a pleasure to hear.

Father Basil Jellicoe, a prominent housing reformer and Church of England priest is seen here teaching a song.

This one has always killed me inside, I'd love to see pubs like this thriving, not left to rot as modern buildings create a never-ending Eclipse.

The beauty of the #London #pub. This one in #Westminster #SW1Y is a fine example of the aesthetics that the Victorians excelled at.

The public house was closed in 2013 with planning applications approved to demolish & replace it with flats as long as they retain the pubs facade. @Britains___Pubs
The Graving Dock Tavern #RIP

North #Woolwich Road, #Silvertown, #london, #S16 This pub was built on the site of an original Victorian public house around 1960. Now one wouldn't even know one was in England, never mind the docklands.
