This hearing gutted me today. I replayed in my mind the stories my inmate friends told me about their experiences giving birth in prison. S kept focusing on how a nurse kept tapping her arm during delivery and what a comforting distraction that was for her. She was shackled and terrified and the stranger's tapping was her comfort. They took her baby away that day. 💔

There's so much political noise, but as you scroll your feed with your thumb, realize that at this very moment, there is a human rights crisis happening in America's jails and prisons.

My first thoughts on this plea deal news:

There's a nice play being teed up for Trump right now on this topic. As I see it, anyway.

First, he can remind people that Obama and Biden wanted to close GTMO and bring these terrorist into the US prison system, but he, DJT, stopped that, kept it open AND expanded it.

Now Biden has done this.

Trump can then condemn this plea deal as outrageous, a disservice to 9/11 families and our country, before promising to address/fix it when he is President.

Trump can promise and make happen more declass, more disclosure from US side.

Left unsaid is the phone call he can make to his pal MBS to arrange for more disclosures of Saudi involvement in 9/11.

Might eventually be a plea deal for life sentences, but there will be a "much better deal" for America.

I've read that Trump is very good at making deals.
